Well some of you know I bought a zxr400 L3 (1993) off ebay not too long ago. The body work was really tatty and have cracks and scuffs everywhere. A photo of it below before the work....

https://img30.exs.cx/img30/356/before5qf.jpg

Just to give a few of its specs...

Full stainless steel micron system
Race rearsets
Brand new gold chain
New dunlop tyres
Crash bungs Wink
downgeared loads Thumbs Up
Braided hoses all round and the calipers have been upgraded to zzr600's

Anyway, I decided to strip the fairings off the zxr and attempt the respray my self...

https://img30.exs.cx/img30/1331/dscf00560vr.jpg

Thats just the back end resprayed and once I laquered it, it looked terrible. So I contacted a friend (Hex off here) and asked him to sort them for me...

I have just got the fairings back and fitted them along with some stickers I found on ebay.

and

https://img30.exs.cx/img30/9365/dscf00959mk.jpg

It has came out really well, much better than I could have ever done with spray cans. I just wish I had sent the tank off to get resprayed too... it has a zx10 look dont you think Wink

O crap, it looks amazing in black.

It so looks like front of Zx10r. Exactly what I though at first.

So you have 2 Zx4s, then?

You can never go wrong with Black!

I think a big gold Ninja sticker at the bottom of the fairing would had looked better though.

Yes it was in essesx, and I think I got a bargain Smile I bid £900 expecting to get outbid but I guess no one bid on it because it looked so shabby. The brake discs aren't actually that warped so I will probably keep them for a while. I picked up a generator for £30 so the battery etc will be charging (as soon as the generator arrives).

I haven't really ridden it since I got it other than around the block. So if there are any other problems I haven't found them yet. It seems alot quicker off the line than my other standard geared zxr4, very happy with my purchase so far.

He made some mistakes on the listing as well... He said it was a 1991 L1 model when in actual fact its a K reg 1993 L3 model.

The mileage on it is actually 23000 instead of the 27000 he put.

I didn't bid £900 expecting to win it to be honest! When I won it I was rather shocked especially when I realised it was 180 miles away...

PS it looks gorgeous with the gold chain and black bodywork, but I agree with above that the tank is a slight shame =P

Still, wanna swap bikes?
