Ok, seen it a few times, think i get the right idea, could anyone point me in the right direction as to how to come about creating this a show piece at my local bike meet?
its a 4T marauder.
Now i will only have this on once, dont want to risk damaging anything on the bike.
Is there anything to look out for while trying to do this?
Any sites that explain it in full detail would be a great help.

Cheers, Pyro Steve Razz

you mean purposely backfiring your exhaust?

Well the flame is from un-burnt fuel in your exhaust, to make it backfire do this:

Rev your bike up to the hilt, redline it, then if you have a cut off switch cut the bike off then take the cutoff switch off, you should get it right, it often takes a few attempts though.

if there's no cut-off switch, turn your ignition on and off really quickly and it has the same effect.

have fun, but don't do it infront of the boys in blue, me and a few friends got a bollocking because they thought we had guns.

There are some boy racer kits you can get for cars that invoves installing a spark plug in your exhaust to ignite any unburnt fuel! If you really really really want to drill a hole in your exhaust though just to impress a few strangers, do it!

good luck

Ive done what steveh wants on my scooter Razz I just go along at a steady speed, turn the ignition off, pump the throttle a few times (while still moving with engine off), then start her back up again and it makes a loud 'pop' with a quick burst of yellow/orange from the exhaust Thumbs Up

What? you mean squirting lighter fluid up the exhaust pipes, firing up the engine then flicking the kill switch off and on?

That is an extremely stupid thing to do.

You can make your bike pop and bang flames on the overrun by making sure there is an air leak (by eg slackening off the exhaust clamps where it meets the header). Downside, it tends to make the bike run a bit lean.

I remember seeing on TV when they were testing the Foggy Petronas bike before it could be ready for an actual track day race it looked amazing with the flames coming out of the exhaust. It wouldn't be nice for a bike coming up behind getting a blast of those flames coming out !

Mines does it when the bike is reeeeeeet hot. If I rev the bike standing it will spit flames (posted a vid of it a while back on here).

The kill switch also works but I've heard thats bad for you bike.

If I give it some in 2nd and 3rd, I can get a decent backfire if I shut the throttle quick!

Here's the link to my vid:

https://rapidshare.de/files-en/437467/Titanium_Can.wmv.html

Think it still works! Thumbs Up

Correction, vid has been deleted! Crying or Very sad

There is a kit you can buy that does actually fire flames out your exhaust - obviously not road legal!!

You just install it at the exit of your exhaust and it does the rest - foot long flames! I will try and find it for you!

Would that work?

If it did id certainly buy one... as i am a tart. But frankly what would be better then landing a wheelie and cracking out the flames Razz Altho id imagine you would have to modify a funnel at the end of the exhaust to guide the flame away from tyre/plastics?

Also, something i was musing earlier, whats this gaff about nitrous making blue flames when you use it? Any game involving nitrous and most films show blue flames fountaining out of the exhaust... Is that just a cliche or some real fact?

Read the small print first....

"Photos/images for illustrative purposes only. Product's appearance/function may differ slightly. This product will not work on diesel engines,* no guarantee is given to the quantity / quality of flames produced. A majority of cars tested by ourselves have produced excellent results. Removal of catalytic converter is recommended. All parts are new or remanufactured to as new condition."

Edit
..and the feedback rating.

It sure does. My brother blew the exhaust off my parents Escort doing that. Needless to say they were less than impressed.

Dunno, on mine it will split flames if you rev it up so it bounces off limiter, and down and up, and down: about 10,000 - Rev limiter... and so on...

There is a commercial made kit for sale that takes over the ignition system and dumps unburned fuel into the pipe and then ignites it via a small spark plug fitted in the end of the pipe.

Its advertised with pictures in this months BIKE mag.

Mine will do it in 2nd gear, take it up to 10k rpm then hit the kill switch off till it goes down to about 6k rpm and flip the kill switch back on. Gives a nice loud bang and flame.

Ive had to stop it now because parts of what i think was the baffle started coming out when i did it!
