My twin and I specialised in collecting Yamaha RS variants. This was partly due to the legal restrictions on the Somers Isles (alias Bermuda), and partly due to the poor parts supply, whatever the model. There was an advantage to sticking to one type. My twin had a 5-speed RS, and a pair of RX-S. I had a pair of RX, successively on the road. Also, a few other RX 100, stripped for parts, and a crashed Escort Yamaha, which met the same fate. I was building a TR-like race rep from an RX-S frame, and the motor from my first, pranged, RX. Almost finished it before I pushed off for Glasgow, last Autumn, obliging me to dispose of all of our bikes (my twin had moved overseasa few years before, leaving his bikes with me). Anyway, pretty miserable, here, without a bike, at the moment, but...Here's me, 3 of my brother's, and a few of our bikes.

Ha, ha!
Most of my brothers and I are what, locally, would be termed 'race-heads'.

The first one is actually the same as the second...or, at least, it has the same motor. The second one was written off when I got T-boned by some twit on a step-through, overtaking two cars through a blind corner, causing opposing traffic to swerve, before ploughing into me at about 50mph as I exited from a grocery's car park. There was a long, tortuous, drawn out result to that, legally and medically, that I won't get into. Let's say I've one more reason to dislike cops (even though I was one, at the time).

I tacked in a post-crash pic, but it doesn't begin to show the damage! The only thing I could salvage was the motor, and even that had been damaged.

Nice mini, by the way. Always liked them--they're almost motorbikes!

Sean

If anyone does have a basket-case Yamaha RS100D, RS100DX, RX100, or RX-S (or some other RS variant) that is gathering rust for want of unavailable parts, and has a yen to duplicate my effort, this is a quick how to.
