Hi

From this thread on VD it seems that ESS might have gone under.

Eeek. There organisation was impressive.

All the best

That sucks, they were by far the best trackday company out there.

Indeed, definitely worth the little bit extra they seemed to charge.

Sad You never know - someone might be interested in 'buying them out' or something.

Unfortunately this seems to be an Thumbs Up for the cheap track day companies that skimp on marshals etc.

Sadly, it's true.

From Visordown:

Quote:
This is one thread that I will not enjoy taking part in however, we would prefer to remove rumour or conjecture and give account for our decision.

Both Sarah and myself believe that what ESS produced would have in the fullness of time brought about a change to this industry, a change for the good of both operators and customers alike, it was our vision that we would enter a new era in circuit based activities, one that we hoped would have had so much more to offer.

Whilst the products have (of late) proved very popular it has become clear that the costs of running them coupled with the current climate of track days means that the margins available do not counter the risk, what is made on one day is so easily wiped out on the very next, we are sure that many other operators experience similar problems but for us this was exacerbated by the associated costs of providing that level of event.

With the above in mind we have taken the difficult decision to close ESS and place it in to administration (As of August 1st 2005), this does mean that all future events have been cancelled although I know MSV are working with us to provide an alternative for all those who have booked forthcoming events, we will advise.
Whilst the mood is sombre both Sarah and myself have been deeply touched by the level of support we have received from our members, friends and indeed the industry.
With that in mind we would like to apologise to everyone for our failure and to thank all those who have supported us in what has proved a difficult task.

That's bad.

I felt there were by far the best trackday company out there.

I hope Tony and Sarah pull through and the future pans out ok.

as for trackdays, lets hope the other companies (or a new one) here all the good stuff about ESS and at least implement some of the positives into their own trackdays.

If nothing else the timings and re-gridding per session was brilliant. Thumbs Up

Lack of red flags due to excellent marshalling and numbers Thumbs Up

Tony's passion Thumbs Up

We were toying between a school with them or CSS.

Shame. Only did the one pace day with them, but thought it was really well organised.

Guess this means no enduro in November as well. Sad

Bugger, the ESS days were always very well run from my experience, shame to see them go. I guess that about does it for the PACE day concept as well... Confused

Maybe someone else will pick up the PACE concept, but I suppose they'd have to deal with transponders etc. Which is all hastle and eating into their tiny profit margins.

Never did a trackday with them, but wanted to.

Shame. What was the problem with the TTP trackday out of interest Jay? Obviously I had no frame of reference, so I don't know if it was good/bad.

The breafing was a pile of C*ap, and there was an extreamly slow rider in inters who should have been moved down (IMHO)

The briefing wasn't so bad, they're all boring when you've heard it 15+ times before.

I've only done two trackdays before and that was with the ESS so will be interesting to see what the other companies are like, though I've heard they're not a touch on the ESS Neutral

Was really looking forward to the endurance racing in November aswell Sad Hopefully some of the other companies will pick up on that idea as there seemed to be a fair bit of interest.

Really quite upset about it, pace days were bloody good fun, clearly Jay isn't upset about it, afterall it means he doesn't have to go on track days which proves he is slow.

FYI, the Intermediate and Advanced links on the mainpage (under the Welcome to SmoothTracks banner) are broken (although they both point to https://www.smoothtracks.net/Intermediate (and is missing a file extension)).

No UK tracks at all? Should we read anything into that about trackday regulations abroad, and the demise of ESS?
