If anyone has it yet, I'm the chap that won the U-turn competition Cool featured in the mag.

Just though I'd share you in on my claim to fame!

Best bit though was being allowed to use the Bruntingthorpe 2mile straight a couple of times Thumbs Up

I now know how fast my bike will go Smile

I believe "Kickstart" is in the same magazine with his Bandit.

It's an old airfield that they use for testing bikes and cars.

It's used a lot for high speed testing, hence the 2 mile straight.

Yep, that is me. Didn't think it was out yet. I was chatting to them about that test and they said not to mention what you were really going to Bruntingthorpe for.

Cold and wide open place, Bruntingthorpe. Took some pics of a track day there years ago.

All the best

Keith

Cold!

It was absolutely boiling, with no shade to escape the sun all day. Naturally everyone was in full gear too.

You'll see from the pictures the bright blue sky. They were great in providing us with bottled water though.

It was a great day, although like you say, I'm not suprised they kept it secret, most people were hoping for some high speed action Smile

Not out in the shops for another week I don't think.

I wish! Sounds like he had a "lucky" day, because it was not warm when I was there.

All the best

Hi

Just seen the magazine. Seems I got a fair amount in there on the Bandit.

To add to the fun there is a letter from Gaz about his track day on the MZ, and a picture of him which I think I took.

Once again RiDE is the BCF magazine.

All the best

Keith

They edited it.

Also wondering why it says 155hp in some places and 144 in others. It is my Bandit shown being pushed into the van and also the side picture of a Bandit with no rider is my bike.

All the best

Keith

Worryingly, about that.

Engine tune was £1300 I think. Exhaust £725. Oil cooler kit was £300 (I think). Dynojet kit was £125. K&N was £35. Clutch was ~£200. Few dyno runs to get it set up adds a bit more so about £3000.

Added to that there is the cost of powder coating the frame (why it is silver rather than blue) and also the money spent on some tary CNC machined crankcase end covers which I have never fitted (they make it too obvious the engine has been played with, my get some of the similar black anodised ones which are less obvious).

Next thing is probably some larger carbs. I have some 40mm carbs from a GSXR1100 sat at home.

All the best

Keith

RiDE, the official BCF magazine.

I happened to know the woman writing the letters page, so that's how I got my letter (and photo) printed.

ROCK ON!

I'll buy it ASAP, been checking Tesco every day for the last week waiting for it.

is this the same bandit that does 50-60mpg ? pretty good for such a powerful bike

or was the 50-60mpg before it was tuned ?

back to topic, what happened in the u uturn competition ?

is bruntingthorpe a test track, a race track or a disused runway ?

I should feel honoured, I've seen aforementioned bandit in the flesh.

Although you should all bow before the MZ!

I think bruntingthorpe is an airstrip or similar where RiDE have set up a test track. They use it to test all their bikes and it's used in a fair few features.
