Lockwiring is where you drill a hole through your bolts (say sump plug, filler cap, any that you think might work them selves loose and cause massive problems on track) use some lockwire pliers to thread a thin strand or wire through two bolts, usually twisted so it has double strength. This stops the bolts from turning until you cut the wire, as they are wired together or to something solid that doesn't move.
This is purely a racing thing, not essential for trackdays, but a good idea to do if you want to make sure you don't pop your sump plug and sieze the engine, not to mention dump oil all over the track. It might affect your resale value though, as it will look like it has been thrashed with every useage! ____________________ TL1000R Parts For Sale! |
