How about something to shorten URLs (obviosuly just the display, not the actual link Smile ) over a certain length so that they don't expand the width of the page?

How about enclosing URL tags as a preprocessing thing to all posts before entry into the database?

For example...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/DSIaiodud0981290e2819089018d19082e198

Becomes

https://www.ebay.co.uk/...

That's what I meant for output, though I suspect it would better done pre-display, though would take up slightly more processor power. This would mean that posts would be stored exactly as entered.

I'm sure you can get phpbb add ons to do this, one way or another.

I agree, it would probably cause a shitload of overhead.

I see plenty of other forums do it, but maybe it is too resource - intensive to do it with form.
