GIFFOULD JUST SHY OF PODIUM FINISH AT LYDDEN

Calcot racer Dave Giffould made a significant improvement to his results, in the latest round of the BMCRC Clubman Mini-twin championship at the Lydden circuit in Kent at the weekend.

Giffould, riding a Suzuki SV650 started his first of four races from his finishing position of the last race at Snetterton just a fortnight ago. So, a 12th place start meant that he was able to immediately attack the riders ahead and a fantastic fourth place finish was his reward in the opening event of the weekend.

With a second row starting position for race two he was looking for his first podium result of the season. However, a race-long battle with a rival for fourth place ended with a collision at the hairpin and put him out of the results.

The incident fired him up for race three, though. An excellent start and some of his best riding to date allowed him to finish the short nine lap sprint in ninth position.

With a top ten grid slot for the final race Dave went all out to get onto the podium, on a circuit he knew would be one of his strongest all season. However, he missed out on bringing home silverware by just one place, ending the day with another superb fourth.

A happy Giffould was relieved to be at the sharp end of the results sheets after the opening round dramas at Snetterton. But, he was also concerned about his lack of circuit knowledge for the next round, at Mallory Park in Leicestershie at the end of the month.

“I’m really pleased with the progress I’ve made up the grid and the two fourth places this weekend,” he said. “The opening round at Snetterton was definitely an extended test session and I came here to Lydden knowing the track and aiming to move up the order. I have achieved what I set out to do this weekend and the aim for Mallory will be to continue my way up the order and stay in the top ten,”

“Mallory will certainly be a step into the unknown, though. I’ve not got any experience from there at all, so it will be a steep learning curve. But, I will go out and try as hard as possible because I want to keep the results coming,” he added.[/img]

Nice one G (and Adam for ghost writing services, Jay for pics...). I'll endeavour to get up to Mallory, take some pictures and offer some moral support. If you haven't ridden it before it might be worth a trackday if you can squeeze one in beforehand. I've done it once and didn't get on with it all; it's a tricky little bastard!

Was an excellent weekend (apart from the freezing cold!). Well I say weekend, we were there from Wednesday night onwards. Smile

Shame about the little incident, I reckon G'd have come home with a pot if he'd not had to start from the back on Sunday.

I've got some video to sort out, MarJay shot some stuff on Saturday including the little G/Jon interface, I shot both races on the Sunday and there's a bit of onboard stuff as well. But I need to do some work first!

Another fun weekend of drinking, smoking, drinking, sausages, drinking, smoking, sleeping, drinking, and fish. Oh and I think there might have also been some racing on at the same time, or something? Embarassed

Congrats Jon on another 1st place trophy, as well as the Jeremy Hill "most promising rookie of the day" award and the lesser-known Ste Okas "most drunk/stoned pit crew in the paddock" award.

G did good!

I wandered around a bit, stole some MZ bits. Mocked Jay's hat for a bit. And went home for lots of sleep.

The 400s and Minitwins shared practice sessions cos they're roughly the same speed.

Last year there was a 400/650 shootout race at each round but they don't have it this year.

Hi
Very Cool .

No crash pics though Sad.

I can see the kiddies all clambering for the Reading paper after G's next race to find out how well he did.

Then they will proceed to cut out the picture and stick on their wall Very Happy

Cool Thumbs Up

Why not get some Reading evening post decals? That way they would be more inclined ot keep reporting the story "its got their name on it" therefor a possibility for more lucrative sponsership?

Luke

Never put stickers on a race vehiclee unless you're getting something in return. Free advertising only ever works for the person that's got the sticker on the bike.

Besides, the paper is already printing stuff (don't know how though... Shifty )

Yes, I'm back, I'm tired and I got wet. Oh, and Dijon is like Snetterton on a bad day! Don't go there unless you can help it.

Thank you and goodnight (I need sleep) Sad

My end.

Haven't uploaded the SQL scripts for that yet - got it running on me laptop at the moment.
Not that there's any sponsors listed as I haven't got any logos/details yet!

A note to 'sponsors' - will at some point need small and medium sized logos as well as a one/two line description and a more details description.

Will sort out exact details for the logos/pictures some point soon, but bigger should fit in the angled bar on the top right and smaller should fit in half off the remaining thinner bit of the bar.
