It's been ages since i have done anything. Embarassed

Spend a good few hours today and started to get back into it last week. As the weather has started to warm up its not too cold in the garage anymore.

Anyway i have put the engine in the frame and done some other general stuff.

Managed to get some kind of paper stuck on the side of the frame and not sure how to get it off. Doh!

If im being honest i started to loose interest but after seeing so much progress today and seeing it like that i am ready to go again. Very Happy

I'm warning you now, drop the front forks out and get the mudguard back on before you do anything else, otherwise it won't go back on. I've just found this with mine so the forks'll be comin out to get the bloody MUDGUARD BACK ON Evil or Very Mad

Otherwise, you've got some catching up to do, i'm nearly finished and i started later than you! Laughing

The tyres have paint residue from the nitro mors from when i stripped the wheels. Laughing

Should look pretty good when the bars and engine is painted, probably just do the engine in brush paint.

Also need to fibreglass the tail unit, get some r6 front fairings, spray it all, the tank mudguard and it should nearly be done.

I will be so pissed off if i crash on my first track day after all that hard work. Laughing

eBay has squillions of R6 fairings from all the born agains who drop them, so you won't be hard pressed to find some. Laughing

Not sure what design of exhaust pipes you're thinking of though. Can't see how you'd route them so that you don't burn yourself.

Yeah route them for practicallity, not what you think looks nice.

Mount them wherever's easiest, and for gods sake don't cable tie them on. Where they are they'll start to melt your seat unit methinks.

Hi

If it is a track bike I would certainly say forget the twin pipes. More weight, more to damage and more likely that you will loose a load of power from some bodged up pipework.

All the best

I got the frame, spare engine (non runner) wheels and forks off barry_nc21 off here for free. Then spent about another £200 so far on another 400 engine and then various other bits and pieces.

The main things i need now are front fairing, decent tyres and downpipes. Apart from that its almost ready to go.

I think the twin high levels are a bit too ambitious and may have to stick with the standard. Laughing

My old stainless can would easily be hot enough to burn skin after a good thrash.

Carbon ones don't get hot (obviously) but metal race cans should do.
