That'd be my '95 GSF250 Bandit, i've tried every possible thing and still it refuses to go on Crying or Very sad

I can back Quaker boy up, was a tad difficult on my 400 bandit when I swopped the forks over.

I knew what he meant Razz
I've burned my hand countless times putting my chain through my rear wheel and catching my zorst when I first got it.

Used to it now though so I don't catch it as much Rolling Eyes

This is so tempting. Buy a 1000cc exup engine. fit it to my 400 frame. stick all that on and i will have myself an absolute beast. Twisted Evil

Doubt the 1000 engine would fit very easily. It is a pretty much unrelated engine and bigger.

All the best

Thought a CBR600 engine fitted, or maybe it was the FZR600. I forget.

Just get it going with what you have first. It looks good. But don't give up on it. I gave up on my TZR250 and regretted it.

FZR600 engine is basically the same engine as the 400. A load of the castings are the same.

The 750 / 1000 engine is very different. Surprised it fits without massive fiddles.

All the best

Keith

I am awaiting a switch gear and then i have EVERYTHING i need to get it started without bodging anything which should be good.

I think i will get it all going and almost complete before i try anything silly but there is so much i can for not that much which is really tempting. Very Happy

Its the right one barry. Start button and kill switch is what i need.

The wheels are probably on the wrong way around but i only put them on temporary so i could move the bike about. Still need to put the brake discs on both wheels. Thumbs Up

Done a bit more this weekend.

Rear wheel is on fully now, put the sprocket carrier on and rear brake disc and caliper. Footpegs are on and i started to spray the front mudguard one of the engine bars and the tank.

I don't think i left the primer long enough to dry as the glossy paint is coming up quite dull so i will leave that a couple of days then put a few more final coats on.

Also painted the clipons and put the ignition on.

Hopefully tonight i will win auctions for the R/H switch gear and clocks. Once i have the switch gear i have everything i need to get it started, before i go to thailand.

Once the engine's started i don't have much else to do. Very Happy

I will need to sort out the loom for, fairings, put the clocks on and sort out the exhaust system.

I also bought some new paddock stands off Fuzz which have made a massive difference. Everybody should buy some now, it makes everything to do with wheels so much easier.

Anyway here are some pictures. Thumbs Up

I will get some better pictures today in the daylight as the flash is making the bike look pretty crap.

I also won a r/h switch gear and the clocks for £20 posted last night so hopefully could try and start the beast up on the weekend if i sort out the wiring. Sick

Sure am. Laughing

The bitch is finding parts atm though. I need a speedo thing that acts as a spacer on the front wheel which is really hard to find. Also i need a fuel tap and pump which seem to be pretty difficult to get hold of.

Once the engines running i will really get into gear and try and sort it out asap. Still on schedule to do a few track days this year on it. Cool

The speedo drive. I had about 3 of those laying around off a TZR250 and an XJ600. Only recently moved house and junked loads of bits.

Should be easily eBay'd.

Bike's looking good! Hope it runs!

I've heard a lot of tzr250 stuff fits, like the brake dics are the same.

I have spied a speedo drive for a 250 on ebay so will have a bid. Hopefully it will fit. Very Happy

Ducati 916 discs fit TZR250s, so ergo, if TZR250 discs fit yours...

Depends how tarty you really are.

Hi

Think the FZR uses 300mm disks while the TZR 1KT / 2MA models use a single 320mm disks. The 320 ones are easy (used by Ducati and a load of others as well) but the 300 is a bit more difficult (FZR600, possibly the TDM850, etc).

You can get rebuild kits fairly easily if they are warped.

Not sure on the speedo drive. They are something like £30~£40 new (got given the price of one of those when I was asking about the little bit of bent metal that drives it, I almost choked). Might be easier and cheaper to find someone local with a lathe to knock up a spacer to replace it.

All the best

Keith

Another update:

Sorted out a speedo drive so now the front wheel is on properly as is the back. Got a FZR600 master cylinder, need to get some hoses tonight.

Also go the clocks, will just be needing the rev counter and temp guage so need to sort out a new bracket for those and i have also got the R/H switch gear.

I thought i would be able to start it tonight but the electrics are a bit too complicated for me, especially when the loom im reading is in japanese. Confused

Also sprayed on of the engine bars and front mudguard. Starting to look quite tarty now. Cool

That bike (zzr6) is my new bike courtesey of my dad. Smile

Gonna get rid of the undertray, 6x1 numberplate maybe a wheelie bar and engine bars (might stunt this a litte) seriously downgear it. Thinking 2 off the front 5 on the back. Want to get some good acceleration on this beast. Very Happy
