Damn you craigs23, I was perfectly happy with my nc30 being the way it was, runs, stops, starts and takes me places. Cool..

But then I saw your thread and read it, looking at the pics.. hmm ok mine is a bit on the shabby side.. ok being too easy here. its a shed. Its got rust on it FFS!! My van can rust all it wants (thats what transits do after all Rolling Eyes ) but its no good having a rusty bike!

So I start off with this standard ish nc30
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/two_smoke/anglesey24thapril/7.jpg

looks ok but under the skin its in need of a little TLC, so I start today, from the front..

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/two_smoke/vfrcleanup/vfrcleanup1.jpg

and got a few small items off to take to work to shot blast tomorrow

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/two_smoke/vfrcleanup/vfrcleanup2.jpg

meanwhile, the kittens decided it was time to leave the area

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/two_smoke/vfrcleanup/kittensrunaway.jpg

and so it continues...

Tum ti tum.. after a week of getting up at 5am I really didnt feel like doing much today but started blasting the parts;
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/two_smoke/vfrcleanup/vfrcleanup13.jpg
vapour/bead blaster, beautiful piece of kit Smile

started with the metal bits, had to work fast drying them to prevent rusting
Headlamp bracket
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/two_smoke/vfrcleanup/vfrcleanup14.jpg

The alloy parts came out as good as ever
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/two_smoke/vfrcleanup/vfrcleanup15.jpg
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v139/two_smoke/vfrcleanup/vfrcleanup16.jpg

Wheels were a pig to do, rock solid paint and knackered shot in the blaster meant an hour to do one wheel so left that for another day..

Randomly enough we found a frog in the outlet pipe from the blaster..

I wouldnt to be honest, chroming is an expensive process and gets everywhere (not good on brake calipers)

Polishing would be a better bet but its higher maintenance.

I'm unsure of what colour to paint my calipers, thinking about the standard gold colour.. any suggestions anyone? Smile

What have you painted all those sandblasted parts with? Luminous primer?

Its how it is after blasting, gives the parts a slight polish too. Very nice effect, the sprayers round here love it as its a perfect surface for spraying!

What type of paint exactly do you plan to use on those sandblasted alloy parts?

man that stuff is clean Shocked I'm impressed.

I'm guessing your using machines at work to do that? If not how much would that cost you to get done? (if I could afford it I think that would be cool to do)
