Whealie's Public Bio |
 | |
I’m Whealie – real name: Chris Wheal. I’m a freelance financial journalist and a biker. And yes I do ride a zebra-painted motorcycle.
I’ve edited three business magazines as well as supplements in the Guardian. I was lead blogger for AOL’s Daily Finance website and helped merge that into AOL Money.
I recently did a 10-month maternity cover contract at insurance trade title Post Magazine (so called because it was the first magazine ever sent by post and has been running since 1840). Before that I worked for its rival, Insurance Times, which I edited 10 years earlier – I was sacked for standing up to an aggressive insurance company boss (Private Eye even wrote about me).
I have written about personal finance for the likes of the Mail on Sunday and the Evening Standard but I generally think personal finance journalism is too focused on price and not enough on quality. That’s where I intend to be different.
I know about finance and I know the people to ask. I’ll try to explain motorcycle finance in simple terms and I’ll try to answer any questions you have. I’ll give you tips on getting what you want and fighting for what you deserve.
Oh, and if you have a problem with a financial firm – a bank or an insurer, for example – let me know and I’ll put them on the spot if they have treated you badly.
There are lots of things wrong with the financial products and services available today. Perhaps if enough of us get together, we can lobby to improve that.
