Righto, its mine and my partners 5 year anniversary tomorrow.

My question is, what do men actually think about anniversaries?
Is it a special day at all for you? I only ask because I know my boyf will forget (even though i reminded him 2 weeks ago) and I need to decide a suitable punishment for him Laughing

If he forgets is it that much of a big deal or should I just forget about it. Im not after expensive pressies or anything like that, but a bunch of flowers and dinner would be nice.

Oh and I bought him a real nice armani watch as a gift Thumbs Up

The best anniversary gift my other half could give me is not moaning because I forget.

It's just a day to me.

Not a big deal for me personally, but I usually treat the O/H to a meal and/or night out etc

I do my best to remember to say, "Oh, it's so X years since the day we met." and hope that's enough to show that I do actually care, despite any evidence to the contrary.

I'm sure she'll be along later to point out that is more than romantic enough.

I'm sure that won't happen, actually.

Not really, I am quite likely to forget an anniversary (mind you not had one for many years).

To me it's the day to day quality that counts, not mile stones.

A supprise scented candle for the bathroom on a random occasion would make me smile much more than something on a certain date. Because, like valentimes day, it feels like the bloke did it because they have to and I'm not up for that.

Offer to receive anal as a present I bet he takes notice then.

Shocked Thumbs Up

Listen to Dragonfly. She knows the way to a man's heart.

Failing that, as far as anniversary goes i'd sooner it isn't mentioned, just like birthdays and christmas. Usually falls on deaf ears, but I managed to get people to not buy me stuff for my birthday this year, which was quite satisfactory.

Why one day has specific importance is beyond my understanding, but I have pretty much ignored it since the beginning and I think its grudgingly been accepted as the way of things Laughing

There is only one reason any bloke buys anything for an anniversary; that being to save the grief he'd get if he didn't!
There is NO other reason Exclamation

It's a meaningless date, no more or less special than any other date.

At best it is an excuse for a celebration. At worst it is a form of domestic abuse.

These dates are created and given importance so that we forget and the women have more to add to the emotional blackmail pile.

Yes this is a generalization, but sensible women of the world, for every one of you there is a thousand insecure needy bunny boilers.

It's another tedious ritual, but it seems mankind cannot make as much sense of reality without them as with them.

Another tiresome irrelevant date that we get punished for forgetting by high maintenance princesses who attribute arbitrary importance to a random day.

If you really love him, you'll return it, spend £10 on a bottle of nice wine, drink it all yourself, then go crazy on him.

I agree with MissEd wholeheartedly. It's not a girl thing, it's looking most likely to being an OP thing.
