After having a large junk taken out of my helmet after my crash in December Im now looking for a new helmet. Saw one of the above and thought great design and i like the internal sun visor. very handy but im not sure about the flip front design and its reliability in a crash.

Anybody got one and how would you rate it ?

They're ok in terms of safety, but with a missus working in a hospital, 99% of all bikers who come off wearing one end up having a nose job due to the sun visor trying to take it off!

I had a Caberg V2.

Heavy, noisy, and slightly uncomfortable.

Liked the sun visor though.

I have one o'these. I don't find it too noisy, but it hasn't travelled much above 60 yet. I find the flip front proper handy... at petrol stations, or when I'm wearin specs, or if I just want to chat to someone whilst I'm wearing it, without having to fanny about taking it off, not to mention my glasses/earphones/earplugs etc Thumbs Up

Definately try one on before you buy. Flip-front helmets make some people feel very claustrophobic.

Cheaper range of helmets arent they?

Although i always found its a get what you pay for type situation most of the time with helmets.

And testing is a definet, and not just a quick on/off as over 5 minutes the pressures can show that you didnt notice at first.

Usually but some of the shite ive seen being sold for £400 odd Confused disturbing..

I'd not reccomend one if you dont wear glasses, theres not really any point.. but they are very handy if you do..

I got a carberg J1 plus. Its not the worlds best helmet but i can imagine that on a bigger bike, it would be rather loud.
But i do love the flip up front...so so handy..especially for petrol stations Thumbs Up

I'd go for an AGV Airtech. Got one myself fr just over £120.

Apparently they're a bit cheaper than the top models because the sound insulation isn't amazing.

But AGV is reputable (our kid Valentino wears one!), its as light as hell, and it looks pukka (If yu don't mind me saying!!!)

Hence why I got one.....

I've had 2 Caberg Justissimo's (and a replacement on its way) and a V2. I prefer the Just' as I was wearing my V2 for my accident and since then I just simply cannot wear a full face helmet without panicing. Something about the manner in which it took the ambulance crew 5 mins to get gas into me to dull the pain.

My first Just' melted into a lovely ring in the house fire, my current one managed to stay shut when I hit the floor chin first a week or two ago. Ive bought the Mirage one now, just because it aint plain.

https://www.thevisorshop.com/acatalog/justissimo%2004.jpg

As to day to day I've found the Just' loud but not too heavy, same goes for the V2. But they're both very comfy.

Got a Caberg Justitissmo (or however its writtten Rolling Eyes ) and on the whole its pretty good. Plus and minus points I've found with it are:
Plus:
Flip front good for talking to people or for using on a hot day when stationary.
Sun visor good as incorporated into helmet.
Also was one of the few helmets to fit my large noggin apart from Arais.
Is fairly comfortable for short trips and even long ones arent that much of a problem

Minus:
Taking out visor to clean is a pain in the arse as when its fitted back in its so fucking stiff. Takes a while to loosen up again.
Speeds over 70 its on the noisy side so earplugs are advisable (not that you would do over 70 of course because that would be illegal... Laughing )
Can get slightly heavy on long trips and at speed the chin part can get pushed into you a fair bit.

For longer journeys I'm planning on getting a full face helmet but for town work or medium distance overall they're pretty good.

from what i have seen of the light scratches on your helmet, it hit the side of the helmet hit the floor, not the chin.

I wouldnt trust a flip up lid to stay shut in a high speed crash. I know some break open, so i wouldnt trust any of them for high speed stuff.

Fine for popping to the shops tho.

I think the pop down sun visor is great tho.

I have a justimo, and love it.
It is a bit noisy at high speeds, or with a fekin loud exhaust, but very comfortable, and the visor is a real godsend. Tends to pull back abit at 100+ but a swift tug and it is back down til the next fill up.
I have serious issues with most full face helmets as i can't find ones that fit properly, but the Caberg suits my ugly mug.

I wouldnt get one, I think there shit, They feel like a bit of cardboard with some filler foam sprayed over it.

And the flip lids weigh a ton, and look gay every time you ride with it up...

I have a V2 and I like it. The wind noise is irritating, especially as it had a little knock from about 2 feet but one of the vent switches dropped into the helmet slightly, so one vent is always open.
Although I must say I'd probably find it weird to go riding without the little whistle I get on every journey!

Only helmets I have to compare it to are a shoei and to be honest it didn't fit my head at all, where-as the caberg does. Wish they'd sort out their wind noise problems then they'd be the perfect budget helmet.

One thing I do find is every time I put it down now (a year after purchasing it) the sun visor drops down a little.

you're not supposed to ride with it up.

they are flip front helmets, not open-face helmets.

aiui, the Roof Boxer is sold as (technically) an open face helmet which is why you can get away with it.

hi

got to agree helmet flip heavyish, quite noisy at speeds
but versatile, flip up at petrol stations, inner visor great for sunny days (would miss that especially).

I know posts are olds but just Posting in to point out online manual for this helmet
(lost little bit of paper on how to undo, remove visor, clean interior etc )

I've had one of the flip-front lids, and it was heavy, noisy, poorly made and a poor fit.

And when I mate crashed with it on, the mechanism holding it shut broke and it flipped open. Potentially mashing his face. (It didn't).

I won't be having another one.

You don't always get what you pay for. I've had several Nitro lids, that were sub £50 and they were good. And I've got a £40 moto-X lid at the moment that's just great.

I've got and have crashed in a Justisumo GT (the latest model, whatever it's called).

Crashing it did very well - impact included the visor and maybe a bit of the flip mechanism. You do need to make sure it's properly closed.
