Anyone used this? https://www.carbonmods.co.uk/Departments/carbon-fiber-kits.aspx The videos make it look easy

Might give it a go, never done anything like that so should be fun (disaster) Laughing

Friend bought one for his car - had a fiddle with it for a bike panel - didn't end well.

The videos do make it look easy - and i'm sure it is for the people recording who no doubt have months of experience doing it.

Out the box though we both found it was a whole different scenario. Made a right fucking mess of everything we tryed to do - somethings did apply okay but there was still clear problems when up close like corners/edges not quite tight to the base object, or bubbling etc.

What is the item you're planning to try do Question May work out cheaper and a lot more time efficient to just buy a replica carbon fibre replacement if its something like a piece of fairing. Up close it won't look 100 percent legit carbon, but neither will the carbon mods stuff Thumbs Down

Some good suppliers

I can buy the part off the shelf but I was thinking about having a go just to see how it is. The actual part costs probably as much as the kit Laughing

EDIT: The part I was thinking of doing costs 109 euros from your link! Shocked That place is damn expensive

Yeah - if you feel confident it might be worth a punt as if you do manage to do a good job it could save you a lot in terms of future stuff i guess - just from my experience [maybe poor attempt Laughing ] it was nothing like what we expected it just all felt really fiiddley and hard work.

I did contact them about whether it was an option to send them things and have them professionally fit the kit for cost but they said they didn't work with small objects for customers Thumbs Down

Those 2 links were for legit carbonfibre i should point out sorry. There are probably a lot of cheaper replica options - ebay may have them if the bikes relatively new and popular.

I found ZX6R replica fibre parts were around 1/4 the cost of the real ones on average. And from a metre or two away you really can't tell the difference to be honest.

I don't mind real CF over fibre glass but fully fake CF is just pointless. I have lots of other stuff to sort before CF anyway Exclamation

I know that stuff is real but even still it's 109 euros for something smaller than my hand

The process is the same as Fibreglass. So get everything you need and Glassfibre weave, and learn with that as it is much cheaper.

You will also need the fibreglass for the mould anyway.

I might try fibre glass first. I want to try make some oversize intakes, how can I do it by using the stock ones as a base but then changing the inlet size?

The stock intakes on the SF are tiny!
