Just got a chaly on fleabay, the engine seems sound enough, but its been driven almost to death over the fields, but as the engine and frame seem sound enough? First thing is the following are missing;

Speedo (the cf70c sits on the handle bars not in the headlight shell)
Headlight (cf70c has a square one, that is clipped to the front forks)
Ignition switch
Indicators

Being a field boys toy, someone has ripped out the ignition switch (long lost), and butchered the wiring loom to enable it to run without battery or switch, so thats one challenge?

OK question ?

1/ As its not just the front light that is missing (also ALL the brackets, fixings etc) and they are like gold dust to find, I'm tempted to swap the front forks over with some forks from the cf70 (these have the brackets welded to them), and install the standard round shell (that has the speedo in the HL), the round ones seem easy to get. So I will end up with a sort of CF70C/D.

2/ Can't find anyone selling a loom for the Cf70c, so I might take the loom off the bike and fix/patch the exiting loom, unless anyone knows of a source (tried the usual), and where I can get a switch. but then maybe I should go the whole hog and change the wiring to a cf70d as well ? (lots of them bits around).

Either way I'm going to strip it down to the frame, and build it back up, checking each part as I go.

Very good find if you got it for cheap

These are beautiful little bikes and are only getting rarer and rarer. The other headlight etc might be your only option if you cant source the exact ones for your model.

Reguarding the wiring loom does the D have exactly all of the same componets and connectors as yours? works of the same voltage as yours? If both of these answers are yes then I couldnt really seem a problem

Been moving on a bit

I needed to add some sort of headlamp holder to the front forks, as I do not have the original wire holder and I dont want to use a square type lamp. So I got this bracket from ooracing

https://www.ooracing.com/store/images/uploads/Head-lamp-bracket-dax.JPG

And set about welding it to the top of the fork assembly

Not bad if I say so myself.

As the frame is not too badly pitted, a good rub down and coating in zinc primer should be enough

And so on with some Hawaiian Met blue
