Have you ever laid awake at night wondering if your exhaust gets hot enough to cook a satisfying bacon sandwhich?

Of course you have!, so dodsi to the rescue with the answer to wat you thought was an impossible question.

Step 1, Preheat your cooking surface.

This is the fun bit, take the bike with exhaust attatched out for a jolly good thrash.

Step 2, Preperation

You must have all the ingredients ready for your bacon sandwhich and a refreshing beverage.

Step 3, hygene

Of course when dealing with food you must allways think hygene first! I reccomend cleansing your cooking surface with a sainsburys napkin, but I suppose tesco's or even asda would suffice.

Step 4, Cooking bacon

Now you are ready to place the bacon on the cooking surface and begin cooking.

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/dodsi2000/PICT0010.jpg

Step 5, bon appetite!

Once cooked...Enjoy dont forget that tomatoe sauce!

Ok so it didnt really get hot enough to cook the bacon so I threw the sandwhiches at keith and had to just do with a bread bun sandwhich to surpass my hunger Crying or Very sad

And remember, dont try this at home kids!

Any experiment was carried out under controlled conditions and undertaken and supervised by trained professionals.

Thumbs Up Very Happy Thumbs Up

We used to make shish kebab in the army using spam, tent spikes, veggies and wrapping it all in foil aroud the exhaust pipe of our landrovers. Also you can boil your soup on the exhaust manifold.

We did leave the engine running and the exhaust was bloody hot (keith burnt himself on it), but its not hot enough.

(plus I thought this forum needed a bit of light heartedness)

Oh and the exhaust is not mingy at all, I cleaned it straight off when I got home and its as sparkley as ever.

Sorry, been done Smile.

Remember seeing an article in some bike mag years ago about how a chef was cooking food at a bike festival on his bandit exhaust - serving up fried breakfasts.

Well I had never seen it on a forum before, Its stems from keith saying "your exhaust gets stupidly hot" etc and "you could cook on that"

So we tried.

I have seen bacon cooked on a car manifold before, and a chicken in a dishwasher, but never a bike exhaust - quality! Thumbs Up

Get some foil (or don't) and put the food on/near the exhaust downpipes - for that grilled effect!

Hotter as well, would cook better.

well that saves me going to a cafe when I'm out on a road trip, but as said you should have left the engine running and revved it.

When I read your post, a theory immediately popped into mind... "Would your exhaust be hotter if your engine was doing some work, rather than just idleing?"

So, I decided to put it to the test.

Stage 1: Wrap bacon in tinfoil
https://www.jonpascoe.co.uk/images/bikebacon/01.jpg

Stage 2: Fix "bacon wrap" to exhaust
https://www.jonpascoe.co.uk/images/bikebacon/02.jpg

Stage 3: Go for a ride. Very Happy I did approx. 25 miles.
After about 6 miles, I had to stop for a junction in the village of Knowle, and there was the most delicious bacon smell. I'm sure the inhabitors of Knowle were delighted at the smell of bacon as I rode past. Smile

Stage 4: Unwrap bacon
https://www.jonpascoe.co.uk/images/bikebacon/03.jpg

https://www.jonpascoe.co.uk/images/bikebacon/04.jpg

So... you can cook bacon on your exhaust! However, my gixxer seems to have cremated it somewhat.

I guess 10 miles would have been enough. Sad

Wonder if you took the baffles out of your can if you could cook a jacket potato in there whilst doing the bacon at the same time Laughing
