I spend the best part of three hours yesterday ringing round insurance companies to get a quote for this year. Mad
I thought I would share my findings with you lot, as I know a few of you are currently looking for insurance.

All the numbers listed below, is every number/company listed in BikeTrader. Although, I didnt manage to phone all of them, Ive stuck them all up on here anyway! Smile

But I hope this proves that the more you phone round, the more they WILL drop the quote.

As this is my 3rd year of ringing round for bike insurance, companies that beginning to stand out are particularly MCE(MC Edwards) and Cofield.
I would advise you leave these two companies until practically last, and then when you phone, say that it practically will be your last call.
They are normally very good at bending over backwards to beat most quotes.

Just to mention also, I was insured with Carter Gilbrook (CG) last year.
And to be honest.... if they tried their very very hardest, they couldnt organise a piss up in a brewery!! Confused
There admin system is feckin awful, so be warned.

So here we go...

QUOTE FOR:
21 year old female, with 2 years NCB (full license)
On 1995 CBR400, garaged in Reading
Average 8000miles a year. Value £3500. Includes commuting.

-Note- if two prices are listed, it means I phoned them back again, and they dropped their quote, in an attempt to beat their competitors.

To make it fair, all prices are including legal fees.

Key:
B : Policy includes breakdown recovery
P: Policy includes roadside puncture repair assistance

The numbers in brackets are the excess values

Cofield - 0800 3167 666 ----------------- B (£300...£250) £272... £267

My insurance is up for renewal in a few months and I'll be doing the ring around again to get the best quote (altho im not hopefull at 19 on a Fireblade Confused )

I don't see CIA on that list, I seriously think you should give them a try.

CIA have never been great for me.. maybe they're better for 17/18 year olds?

Oh, and nice guide V, /me will probably use when I need to renew the insurance for the 9, rather than my year old list.

That's a pretty safe bet Tin, if it's fully comp then I think there's something about her tactics she's not telling us Laughing

Your old tho G Razz CIA were the best for ppl I know, upto 22yrs it could very well be the case that after that age and when your no claims starts rising other companies can do better.

Well, she is V...Wink...but I was thinking more along the lines of "TPFT, as opposed to TPO?" type comparison....although you won't have an excess with TPO, so the question is a bit stoopid.

well....hmmm....actually.....there was a 'bit' of tactics played.
But it wasnt planned!.....
When i phoned up Cofield, they asked my occupation...and i said student....they asked if i had any part time jobs....and i said, yes i worked on sundays for charltonFC.
So, the bloke said he would phone their underwriters to see what they could do for me.
And luckily for me, the bloke he spoke to at the underwriters was a charlton fan. And becuase of that, it swayed his decision Smile

V never fails to succeed! Very Happy
