Any sufferers/experiences?

I get it on occassion. Usually just short paralysis accompanied by hallucinations of giant spiders or the like in front of me or on the ceiling. Once went absolutely mental when I could move again and Sarah recounted me jumping from the bed, shutting the door, swatting at the ceiling then checking under the bed/ behind curtains etc. She said I was most convincing I had seen a spider approx 1 foot wide and had her scared too. Laughing

Had a worse experience 2 nights ago though when I dreamt that I was getting jiggy with her, and then she suddenly grabbed my cock and balls and squeezed really hard in anger. Was in pain for a few seconds after waking and couldn't move to caress them. Should note that that time I was sleeping alone so no-one else grabbed my dick and then ran away laughing. Weird part was I had a semi when I could move again. Thinking

When I used to get really smashed I would often wake up in the night being unable to breath - couldn't work my lungs. That used to scare the shit out of me. Never went the docs so haven't a clue what the condition was.

Yup I get SP. I normally get it once I've been awake for a bit tho. Like awake for a few mins and then sometimes I can feel it sneaking up on me as I drift back to sleep. I can then choose to shake it off or just go with the flow.

I normally just choose to roll with it, it's something unusual so I just enjoy it. First time I got it was just after I woke up from a horrible dream where I was being crushed so I couldn't breathe. I woke up and after a few seconds I felt this horrible crushing force pin me down in real life Shocked freaked me out for a bit but I've learnt just to go with it.

I sort of get the "spiders", I sort of see rough spider shapes running round at warp speed on the ceiling in random directions like they are going berserk. Strangely first encountered them in a dream when I dreamt I was on drugs, then found the spiders in real life when on mushrooms, now still see the spiders in SP and occasionally just in the dark.

That waking up not breathing is called sleep apnea. Certain drugs do this to me..... Not fun especially when it appears you are trapped in a time loop Laughing

During stressful times my missus suffers from this.
The first time it happened we had moved into our flat one week before our tenency started, we weren't meant to but we had brought all of our stuff there and didnt fancy going home.
In the middle of the night she woke me up almost hyperventalating, she couldn't wake but her eyes were open....she had dreamt that the landlord had come in the front door, come to our room, switched the light on then left.
It totally freaked me out as i had been fast asleep, i had to check the flat and then after that she didn't sleep well.lol
Since then similar things have happened, usually on a Sunday where her head can't rest, must be pretty freaky. Confused

See here and here

I got a quick blast just last week, first in a long time, I was lying in bed and heard my girfriend leave for work, then I think the postman put something through my letterbox, and for some reason I had the feeling that someone was trying to get in, so I got out of bed to try to walk towards the hall, but it was like I was incredibly dizzy and couldn't walk straight, I stumbled into the hallway and looked around before being blasted off into some normal dream type stuff, though all along I was thinking "what the hell is going on here?".

Next thing I know I'm back in bed, and I hear the door going again, I go to get up again, but then I feel a presence behind me and a weight pressing down on my back, smothering me, I started trying to force myself up with all my strength but nothing was happening. Then I woke up for real.

This wouldn't be that interesting but for that fact that a few ago later my girlfriend decides to try to say goodbye an give me a kiss before she leaves for work. She had tried this previously by slowly pulling the cover off my head, but I'd woke up suprised and recoiled and cocked my fist back ready to deck something, so I said to her she prob shouldn't do that as next time there's a good chance I'd right hook her into next week. Now you can tell that she didn't listen, and this time she decided (in a logic that only a woman can process) to quickly rip the cover off me and get up close to me all as quick as possible in order not to disturb me. Confused

What actually transpired was that I woke up with the covers over my head and felt a "presence in the room" and thought, shit, here we go again, next time I know the covers are ripped off me and all I see is a black figure coming right towards me getting up in my face (the room was dark). Que me screaming like I'm being murdered and scrambling to crawl backwards whilst my girlfriend starts grabbing my face saying "it's me it's me" (this did not help one bit at all, because as far as I was concerned it was some demonoid bastard clawing at me). Needless to say she ended up in tears, she said she was trying to bury her head into the covers because she figured that any second I was going to swing for her hahaha. What a great way to wake up on your birthday eh?

I've told her to stop doing that shit, I think the message may have got through this time.

I've been tripping in a fair few dreams lately (whilst straight IRL) - full on rainbow spectrum glorious technicolour. Which is strange really as I've never got those effects of drugs IRL.

Sleep paralysis is fun once you know what it is! Well most of the time, I don't like it when I hear a high pitch whistling and hear voices in a strange language.

I'm scared it's aliens Irrational fear Shocked

When I was munchin pills like pacman every weekend a few years ago I had sleep paralysis quite a lot, Scary at first then you learn to enjoy it and even managed to take control of the dreams sometimes.
I found leaving the tv volume louder than usual and lying still with my eyes closed and you start to feel the SP coming on, usually dreaming that im a part of whatevers on the TV! Had some amazing dreams where i'm able to fly and completly aware that im dreaming!

Always seen dark man like figures with very loud screeching noises until I realise i'm dreaming.
Still get it occasionally but tend to shake myself out of it now.

I had a lucid dream once, I recognised it for what it was and spent most of it in amazement sliding my arm through a lampost. Laughing

Strangely it was a entity within the dream that actually told me to do the lucid dream breath check, and even described how to do it. How's that for a subconcious Cool

I get sleep paralysis occasionally, I can honestly say it's never been fun. In fact, it totally ruins my whole day.

In what way does it ruin your day? Care to share any experiences, it's quite possible that there are varying levels of SP and I only get light episodes whereas others may have much more intense experiences.

Not sure if you're confusing SP with a lucid dream? For me lucid dream = good, SP = genuinely terrifying.

When I get SP I wake up (I think my eyes are actually open), but there is usually something going on in my bedroom, seeing somebody there or just feeling a presence. Even though I'm aware there's something going on I can't physically move, no matter how hard I try. I think it only lasts for about 30 secs, but my heart feels like it'll come through my chest it's beating so hard and erratic breathing. For me anyway, it is definitly an intense experience. I remember the first time it happened a few years ago, I thought my mother was in the room with me screaming and shouting at me. When I saw her I asked her what all the fuss was about earlier and she said she hadn't been in the room. After it had happened a few times I started to realise that it was actually SP and not real.

When I finally actually wake up, I'm in a right mess, panic striken yet releived it's over. It's quite wierd for me as I don't take mind altering drugs, I don't get phased by scary movies, don't believe in anything supernatural/paranormal or anything like that. I don't know why I get scared TBH, if I'm awake then this stuff shouldn't bother me, if I know I'm dreaming it shouldn't bother me.

Sounds about right, when I first got it there was heads floating in the middle of my bedroom screeching at me etc etc... Now its more lights spinning round the ceiling and voices/high pitch whistling noise. Maybe as a side effect from psychedelics I find it easier to just "go with the flow" and surrender to it (it sure won't be beaten Wink)

I think SP was brought out in me by low dose salvia usage, ie sub-threshold dose, every day for a week or so. Now it's here to stay it seems. To be honest my positive spin on it probably comes from a guy I spoke to on a entheogen forum about what I was experiencing; he diagnosed it as SP and said it was part of the path on the way to lucid dreams and OBE's. So I see it as part of a desirable/wanted process rather than terrifying visions (let's be clear it can get freaky).

I can definitely understand why it freaks other people out though.
Thumbs Up

I used to suffer these when I was younger. Not pleasant.

They are also referred to as 'Hag attacks'.
