"Forum-ites. I got this info via an email. I cannot vouch for its ultimate veracity (ie, it could be a polic black-ops mailshot to get us to stop speeding). Or it could be pukka. As ever, the decisions and responsibilities are your own:

The Metropolitan Police Service has internally announced that from the 15th February 2008, all the speed cameras in the variable speed Limit section of the M25 near Heathrow Airport (JCT 10-15) are going digital and the activation limit is being lowered.

The older film type cameras have always been set at 90mph when the variable limit signs are not in operation.

The new digital cameras are going to be set at the normal 10% of the speed limit + 2mph (80mph + and you're taking a risk) when the signs are not in use i.e. national speed limit. I can't confirm the activation limit when the signs are set (variable limits showing) but I am led to believe it would be the same 10% + 2mph of the speed shown by the sign at that time.

Please pass this on to anyone you know.

I hope this saves anyone getting points on their licence.

Happy driving. Safest answer is not to exceed the limit.

'Mind how you go' "

It has been doing the rounds recently, i got it via an email last week.
Following a bit of googling it seems the jury is out over it - 50% claim hoax, 50% claim it's true.
TBH, i hardly ever use that section of the M25 on my bike, but do use it quite a bit in the car for work related purposes. Unless it's about 3am you'll be lucky to ever excede 80mph on that stretch of road in a car, so i'm not that worried.
Very Happy

The only reason why they set them so high was because if not the first 100 cars that went passed would use up the film. Smile

if they are digital they dont use film so there is no limit for what they can catch you at

Don't know about the rest but that ^ bit is balls anyway. Have 'known' vehicles reguarly do speeds way above that when the limits aren't set without receiving any letters in the post.

From the editor of SuperBike magazine? He includes a caveat re it's veracity. Make of it what you will, but better forewarned if it is legit.

I get my info from the proverbial horses mouth...

As for older cams set at 90, actually the cameras we are talking about are set to 93 at the moment apparently.

I've got nothing to say on the subject, I just find the blatant name dropping amusing.
