First MOT?

My lovely Gixer is due (i believe) to have its first MOT this year, but having never had a new(ish) bike before i'm a bit uncertain on the procedure.
According to the V5, my bike was first registered on 22/08/2005, so am i right in thinking i have until 22/08/2008 before it must have an MOT?
As it will be its first MOT do i have to do anything different - i'd normally just book a date/time and head down there with the road legal bits reattached and my previous years MOT certificate in hand.
As it has no previous MOT, will i need the V5 or anything like that?

You've got the date right. You can of course go anytime in the preceeding month and get them to post-date the MOT. It's worth taking the V5 so they make sure they've got the correct numbers. If they mis-read any from the stamp/frame then they can't start the MOT because everything has to be put through the computer nowadays.
