Apart from a large moth obviosuly. I think I may have posted it 2 years ago when I took a pic of it on my window sill but no one has answered me anywhere. I just get comments on my pic on bebo of "what the hell is that?"
I sent it off to the moth and butterfly society and they where hapy to tell me what it was in my previous email before I attached a photo and then they ignored me and didnt answer.
Its real , it flew away like a helecopter. I have more pics on the other pc also .

I have seen peoples so called pics of mamoth moths and they are all a lot smaller than this monster.
So brains of BCF what is it?

fat moth?beast? alien? lol
I wish it would visit me again.

Mothraaaaaa!

Send another query to the moth and butterfly society, this time with the pic in it from the start.

But send it from another email address, making out you're somebody else.

They'll remember the query you sent and go 'Oooo, fuck, that's two of them we've heard of recently. Maybe there's gonna be an invasion of them from some foreign country.'

Laughing

I'd guess that it has escaped from some kind of zoo or something rather than it being indigenous to the UK.

Someone told me it came down from a mountain Neutral I still cant find one on google image that size. We have a sanctuary here but its miles from where I am and they have nothing like that. Next zoo is Belfast and its also a fair bit away. Emailed some guy from NI butterly and moth place with the pic. See what they say. I must hunt out the rest the pics it has intersting zip zag patterns on its back.

Looks like a Ruby Tiger moth.

Have got one somewhere but doesn't look at pretty as yours.
(Mine's dead with a pin in it!) Wink

Nice moth and relatively common in the UK.

After consulting my database of moth related facts, I think I can say it looks to be an Elephant Hawk Moth.

Would anyone like to see my bark rubbings?

Excited?

Be afraid, very afraid. The Elephant Hawk Moth is so called because it can morph into either a hawk or an elephant at will. Fairly innocuous you might think until it morph's into an elephant above you as you sleep!

Ok ok. I made that up... Rolling Eyes

Is anyone else scared of butterflys and moths? I am the only one I know that can hold one of them and like them. More butterflys though as they are prettier. But you should see my mate freak when a moth gets in the house Laughing

Anita's frit of them, daft mare, frit of teensy little moths, although I think she's okay with butterflies. When she was little and we were living in NZ, I remember a monarch butterfly chrysalis opening out in her hand. Although she was only 9 at the time, so she probably wouldn't let that happen now Laughing

I'm not really afraid of them: moths mostly are ugly. I can appreciate that the ones on here are interesting and 'attractive' moths, compared to those little ones that flit about ... but they're still fookin ugly. Mind you ... moths THAT big, I'd be well frit of the buggers getting tangled up in my hair, brrrrr.

But I like butterflies ... although I wouldn't really bother to pick one up.
