PostPosted: 20:52 - 16 Sep 2010    Post subject: another R6 crash Reply with quote

2nd relatively major crash i've had on this thing i guess.

coming up to a nice sweeping left hander, my slider touches much sooner than i was expecting, and before i can think ''wtf'', i'm sliding down the road at about 100mph.

so i spin down the road, must have had my eyes closed, thinking ''when am i going to hit something?''. i stopped, picked myself up, picked the bike up, then suddenly realised it was a much worse crash than i thought, and i wouldnt be riding away from this.

https://img543.imageshack.us/img543/3973/12092010029.jpg

https://img178.imageshack.us/img178/7461/12092010030.jpg

https://img827.imageshack.us/img827/7730/12092010033.jpg

https://img688.imageshack.us/img688/7668/12092010036.jpg

meanwhile i'm looking at this whilst everyone who stopped is telling me how lucky i am to be alive, so im like ''i only lowsided, it could have been worse''.

until i saw this

https://img248.imageshack.us/img248/8955/12092010031.jpg

according to the 2 randomers on gsxr750s behind me, i slid in front of the bike, and missed the sign by about 8 inches, then the bike smashfucks the shit out of it, and glances off to one side, stopping about 3 feet from the bumper of an oncoming car.

looking at the road, i see it's just been re-surfaced and is all gravelly. poor obs from me pretty much, but it was a good song so i was singing along.

https://img101.imageshack.us/img101/7620/12092010038n.jpg

so i gave it a good seat on the ride home.

https://img831.imageshack.us/img831/34/12092010037a.jpg

so im left with a gay as fuck streetfighter back end.
it'll go again. i've already found a set of fairings and a tank for £41 delivered, so just need a subframe and LHS clipon hint hint Wink

yeah. i can get it welded up then drill and tap it again. good as new Thumbs Up.

its safe for now though. the weight pressure would push the subframe inwards on the pivot

You said in the Op that its the 2nd serious crash you have had on that bike. Look on the bright side. you wont have any more on that bike.

Since you have managed to fall of the road twice and not get dead then I suggest buying an R1 and see how many times you can drop that without getting dead!

On a serious note tho. Glad the bike is fucked and not the rider rather than the rider fucked and not the bike. We can mourn the bike and laugh at the rider. Laughing

the bike will live again, dont you worry about that. it would involve fire and zombies and a massive crash where i break my pelvis or something to stop me rebuilding it.

So it's a cut and shut ringer (definition is built out of at least two vehicles where the chassis No. doesn't match the log book), you couldn't sell it so you crashed it. Well done. Thumbs Up

you'll find i bought a frame with a V5, and changed the engine number through the dvla. Nothing ''ringing'' about it.
thanks,
bye
