Yesterday I went out for a ride with Shaun and Annabella. We covered about 100 miles, taking in the cloverleaf in Redditch, some excellent twisties to Worcester, Stratford and then back to my house through Warwick. A top day out.

Went outside this morning to find my bike with a completely flat tyre. Sad

So, pumped it up, and rode to Wheelhouse Tyres in Coleshill. They took the tyre off to plug it, but the guy took one look at the angle the nail had gone through at and said "Nope, can't plug this one. You'll need a brand new tyre".

I nearly cried, that tyre was only 4 weeks old, and had only just done 1000 miles. Then I remembered them saying something about getting a free tyre if you get a puncture within a 1mm of use... so asked the guy about it and he went to find out.

5 minutes later, he returns and says "Yep - you'll get a free tyre if your tread depth is at least 4.5mm." So, I crossed my fingers while he measured my tread depth. 4.5mm on the dot!!!

So, they put a brand new tyre on, and only charged me for fitting! That's 1000 miles of free rubber I just got! \o/ Dance! \o/

Avons are ace! Thumbs Up (as are Wheelhouse Tyres Wink)

In that case you should check your tyre levels daily and just before they drop down below the level, hammer a dirty great nail in and get yourself a new one! Never buy another tyre again. Very Happy

You only get 1 replacement for each tyre you buy apperently, since they need your original invoice to claim against.

Good try though. Very Happy

My dad tells me the Avon "Roadrunners" were the best tyres he ever had...been around for ages too! Does anyone know if Avon still make the Roadrunners?

Not sure, but if you're looking for sports tyres, the Avon Vipers are excellent.

I can't fault them! Thumbs Up
