I’ll keep it short unless you’d all like full detail of the trip, the costs, the roads etc…..

I went to Belgium with some bikes from a VFR forum I’m a member of, it was at a place called ‘Bike Loft’ which is a converted fire station!
I got there on Friday evening, it was the most miles I’ve done it one hit on my Kwak, from Cheltenham to Belgium, and I found it pretty tough on the motorway as the 7R is a really dedicated position.
The bikes all came in through the side entrance into a large floor with space for the bikes to all line up. The rooms were all around this room full of bikes which is weird. When you opened the door in the morning you were greeted by a line of machines with a lovely of petrol.

https://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y278/Killa127/DSC00328.jpg

The evening kicked off with an awesome rock band called Koyle, there were German as far as I know, but they sounded brilliant doing covers of Metallica, AC/DC, Bon Jovi to name but a few.

On Saturday some of the lads went to a war museum, placed at Hill 62, I do have more pictures but here are some chosen ones……

Instead of going off to another town and shopping, me and my friend Tom decided to go on a ride out, into Northern France and back to Belgium. By his calculations and map readings we should have been getting back in around 2 hours.
We ended up taking about an hour to do half of the journey there, so we made another route.

I did see some fantastic roads, some sections looked just like a computer game, huge flat open areas with roads as far as the eye could see. Perfect road conditions, it was warm, clear and not a car in sight.
Banking into those bends were some of the best moments of biking I’d say!

https://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y278/Killa127/DSC00358.jpg

Are we lost mate? Laughing

Some places I visited....I know there isn’t a lot here, but I wasn’t really looking to get snaps.

The rear of a nice quiet pub in France, which had a great view...

https://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y278/Killa127/DSC00356.jpg

The sun was setting and me and Tom had been riding for a few hours now. The 7R was at optimum working temperature and was singing beautifully through the sections we were meeting. On one downhill section Tom launched his VFR over some railway lines which looked bloody impressive! (It’s a rental bike, lol) like street hawk.
It was soooo quiet here, it really made me jealous of the residence here, uninterrupted, gorgeous scenery and good roads.

https://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y278/Killa127/DSC00365.jpg

It’s flat as a pancake there!

As we came back into Belgium I had to get a few shots of this!

https://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y278/Killa127/DSC00383.jpg

Came back in less than an hour thanks to the Euro Tram.

https://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y278/Killa127/DSC00373.jpg

Fuc* the ferry....

I had a really nice trip overseas, i'd love to do it again, although it did wear my tyres a great deal, and they are pretty much new! Sad
The Kwak did a brilliant job and handled anything i through at it.

Cool Thumbs Up

Awesome photos!!

Half because it looks like a hell of a lot of fun and half because I've been to half the places you guys visited too. Like that museum. That was a great museum, walking around the old trenches and stuff.

And in one of your pics, there's a little chocolate shop. I went there too, it's ridiculously good there.

Did you stay for when they stop all the traffic and have a procession to remember those that died in the War?

Looks like you had a great time anyway, I should have done something like that when I had the chance. Thumbs Up

Cool writeup. Went to the bikers loft in Oudenburg last year and I'm off again this year in June. Can't wait.

The town square in that pic looks familiar, what is the name of the town. I'm sure I have been there before?

I didn't see that happen, i only stayed to eat and then i went on that mad ride out...
When i was eating at the restaurant there were a couple of old war vet's (American) sat behind me. The museum was interesting as well as upsetting i guess, because when you think of how fuc*ed up it is.

Those guns were nasty looking McGee, that last one made me laugh, it's like a one shot killing weapon, using one shell at a time, not bullits. LOL

Here's some more photo's if you were interested. Cool Thumbs Up

Ok, skippy! Razz

The tunnel prices varies on dates, this was Easter weekend so obviously is a little more than usual.
The return was about £55, I left Friday lunch time and came back on Sunday, and they gave me the option of leaving early as well.

The bike loft for the double room for two nights was £150, this has a sink but no shower, they are communal but they were fine.
There was a live rock band as you could see on Friday.
Breakfast was free with the room each morning, they lay on a great selection of food and drink.

Obviously you can put booze on your room and pay at the end but that’s not advisable. Lol
Food was the ‘Look and cook’ system, brilliant when your drunk, you can cook food up when you want to, they are made meal that you slam in the microwave and all you do is the hit the programme button 1-9, you tell them what you had and they tot it up at the end.

I probably spent about £50 or more on petrol, this was IMO the only crap thing about biking abroad, especially if you go out for a blatt like it did.

Extras that I paid for were, eating out twice and the museum.

Hope this helps! Thumbs Up

There were flare guns in one cabinet......that thing was on it's own next to the ugly one. I swear that took shells, you could tell what a flare gun was.

I think something similar was on one of the Medal of honour games, one slug, one kill. lol

Confused

It is a flare gun.

There are many designs from both the wars Wink

Just search it in Google.

Although if wanted I bet you could slot a shotgun shell in Wink usually a .410 or 12guage. Mr. Green

Quote:
ENGLISH FLARE GUN. Cal. About 25 mm. Large single shot tip-down, bottom lever flare gun with 8-7/8" octagon to round barrel, 2-piece smooth wood grips and Lanyard loop in the butt.

Should read "threw at it".

Yeah, they were all decent people, most speak a bit of English.

The road conditions varied a lot, some sections were 10 miles of perfectly smooth road and then others were hellish bumps and ridges……
On average they are better roads than England, nice and flat. The roads that are bad there probably aren’t used anywhere near as much as ones here, if they are used more often they seem to sort it ASAP.
