Boils my fecking piss. Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down

I recently replaced a crash-damaged waterproof oversuit from Hein Gericke with another from their range. Well, today I guess I was expecting too much to get 2 miles down the road without experiencing wet ball syndrome. By the time I arrived at work, some 45 minutes later my crotch area of jeans and boxers were completely soaked through.

So now here I am typing this in an office going commando and with my wet boxers swinging from my chair in the breeze of a desk fan. All of my co-workers must think I have bowel problems and had to wash my pants when I got in.. Neutral

I wouldn't normally moan this much but then I realised, the old set were never 100% waterproof either. And the set before those. Oh yes, and the set before those.

Cripes, I've never even owned a waterproof oversuit that has done its job. Thumbs Down Has anyone?

So a big thumbs down to Hein Gericke and their shitty sweatshop-slave-made, fucking dog-shit crappy waterproof-my-arse, cunting ball-wetting pissy excuse for a biking oversuit. And fuck them to hell, preferably where it hurts. In fact, I hope it's freezing cold and raining on the way and all they have to wear is their own piss-poor biking rainsuits so they end up looking like retards with bowel problems before getting arse-raped by Satan himself.

Not. Fucking. Happy.

/rant

I've had buffalo, and another make and both were not waterproof. My o/h has a pair of richa trousers that are also not waterproof but should be.

There's no such thing as water proof.

what bike do you have? sounds like waters collecting on the seat and soaking through.

never had any waterproof probs myself. been in the pissing rain in my spada 1 piece oversuit (over my kevlar jeans and summer jacket or leathers) and in my dianese textiles which im wearing this morning and they've never let me down Smile

daytona bandits (also got the mega goretex sidi vertigos - 2 waterproof boots? well, this is the uk Smile) and alpinestars 365s complete the set and jobs a goodun.

I was riding around in a polyester & polychloride / PVC suit anyhow.

https://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/cPath/1_127/products_id/562

"HG BASIC II RAINSUIT BLK
You'll thank the Lord you had these when the Heavens open.

Function: Waterproof design with welded seams. Comfortable, fitted shape thanks to elasticated seams + arm closure.

Construction: Waterproof outer (100% polyester). Coating (100% polychloride/PVC)."

Oh really? Rolling Eyes

No I was thanking the Lord that I kept the receipt in a safe place because I am going back to HG tomorrow and exchanging these for something else.

I can't believe a suit that is sold exclusively to keep you dry when it rains can't even perform for 5 minutes in mild rain conditions, let alone a downpour. Can't believe we generally accept this as 'the way it is' so easily either...

Thumbs Down

Proper wet days on the motorway with spray everywhere - I typically wear a pair of waterproof trousers *and* an oversuit - water rarely makes it through both layers.

There's a reason why drysuits cost hundreds of pounds. Spend 25 quid and you get 25 quid's worth of waterproofing - i.e. not much.

Edit: correction. Spend 25 quid and you get a suit that cost a fiver to produce. That really doesn't buy much waterproofing.

Got the same yesterday, sat at work with soggy boxers all day long. Waters runs off my jacket and sits in the creases of my crotch and seeps in slowly, then floods.

I bought a pair of StreetMate trousers (I think its a Spada brand) and they've been the only motorcycle type over trouser that were ever fully waterproof, they don't make them anymore which is a bit of a bastard as they were light weight, zipped and velcro'd all the way up to the hip (you could rip them off like stripper's troo's if you so desired...)

Everything else that is supposed to be for motorcycle use (made by a motorbike orientated company) has leaked. I bought a pair of Raven overtrousers, they were only £16 but its not exactly hard to make water proof trousers surely, you don't need to spend a gazillion smacks to keep your crotch dry?

Ok, you can buy goretex stuff (which I don't believe in to be honest) which will cost the earth and the moon but there must be a cut off point after which your just paying for the name and some fangled gimmickry, for me that cut off point is £16.

So I put these trousers on in a light drizzle, the first thing that confused me is the legs are to short and crotch is way to low. When you sit on the bike, the crotch of the trousers naturally ride up to your crotch proper. Only, this left about a 8 inches of clearance between the top of my boot and the bottom of the waterproof trouser's leg.

No matter what you did or how you sat, they just didn't work. When a company can't even make a garment 'shaped' like the part of the human form they are supposed to cover, you have to wonder why they're still trading. They may as well have just not bothered putting holes for your feet to go through or only made them with one leg.

I spent £40 on a pair of Berghaus waterproof troos, they've never leaked, unzip all the way up the sides so you don't have to take your boots off to remove them and are light weight. Only tip I have is, if the weather is a bit shit, rub some G-Wax along the seems of your waterproofs with a finger, especially round the crotch since that is where water tends to gather, it makes a hell of a difference on longer journeys.

Because I'm bored at work, here is an MS paint treat for you.

Wink

I went into some cheapy sports world place and bought some 2 piece golf waterproofs.. cost like a tenner.. keep my balls dry, none of that crappy tea-bagging in a puddle shite. And the coat doesnt have a hood.. which is good, nothing to flap around in the wind, fits over all my bike stuff too.

I've also never had waterproofs which do thier job - always the wet crotch, I think the solution is just spending more money on an expensive set, sadly.

Good quality and so far completely waterproof, no wet sack syndrome I'm pleased to say. Very Happy

I've had £15 tech7 trousers which worked for a year (although the knee was torn open on one layer); now some "Proof" ones which are Ok so far; some kwaker ones that leaked straight away last week and went straight back.

I don't see how it's so hard to make a set that doesn't leak, never have this trouble with waterproofs for anything else.

May go for textile+goretex one day when I'm feeling flush.

Best waterproof trousers I had were a bright orange pair that had been liberated from my brother-in-law's BT van. Don't know the make, but they were a quite heavy material and lasted years. Never once got wet when I wore them.

I dont have balls however my crotch hasnt been wet from rain in a lidl rain suit. Maybe worth a look at as they are the same people that make hein gericke suits only a hell of a lot cheaper. I do not buy of heins gerkins since I know what they are like when I worked there.

I too am in this position, my winter rst jacket is too big for me now 5xl and i wear my newish rift jacket 3xl which is comfy and waterproof as is the 2 year old winter one RST as well, but the RST pants although in fairly good nick leak like a bastard around the ball area, now i am tight and dont really want to shell out for pants again when these will be good till next summer easily, so i am looking for a waterproof over suit for the heavy rain, i have some cheapish pants which fit nicely over the rift pants and are nice and dry, so i will visit some surplus stores this weekend and look for some waterproof army ones, would this transform me from semi power ranger to hells angel type?.

Stinkwheel usual pops in and says this but the best ones can be got quite cheaply from agricultural store places and are made of 'flexothane'
It's sort of stretchy and really hardwearing despite being quite lightweight - because it's designed to be worked in all day.
e.g here £15(+VAT)
https://www.farmrite.co.uk/product/313611/Flexothane-Classic-Breatheable-Waterproof-Stretch-Trousers-Green-Size-Medium

They roll up quite small and are perfectly suitable for biking.
