I have a week off next week, as like an inbetween time from exams. I've nearly finished them for this week and don't have another until the fifth of June.

My plan was maybe to go to the Lake District for either the night or just the day, and I wondered about a few things;

    How much would it cost to camp for the night, or could I set up in a random field and hope not to be raped/shot?
    Can anyone recommend any good roads/views?
    How much do you think the trip will cost in total?
    Which would be better, the day or the night?

It's a 300 mile round trip but I'm not too sure which part I'm actually going to yet so it's in the planning stages, petrol shouldn't cost too much really on my bike.

If it falls through, I'll just go to Brid. Laughing

Cheers for any comments/advice Thumbs Up Karma

There are some totally insane fell passes that are worth a go. Noteably Wrynose and Hardknott. Ever ridden your bike up or down a 30% incline?

Consider staying in a Youth Hostel. It'll save carrying sleeping bags, tent, roll mat, etc etc.

Well SBH has said that if there's enough of us he will give his mate a shout to bring over some camping gear, so that shouldn't be a problem. How much are Youth Hostels and are there any around there?

So far there's me and dodsi (As usual) up for it, anyone else? What about you Rick?

That looks cool!

We have to do something soon. I remember this place I once went on a residential with my school, near Coniston, it's like a private lane and then a big house with a few rooms and a pool table downstairs.

Wonder what it was called. Confused

Not as far as I know, it was a Youth Hostel sort of thing, with a proper kitchen and dining room for loads of people, with all the things you need for a good trip. We had a good week.
