Hi,

LH-ER5 is right for most cases but it depends on code as to how long it stays and weather it is from date of conviction or date of offence. The full details are :-

Quote:

Endorsements must remain on a licence for 11 years from date of conviction if the offence is :

drinking/drugs and driving (shown on the licence as DR10, DR20, DR30 and DR80).

causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drink/drugs (shown on the licence as CD40,CD50 and CD60).

causing death by careless driving, then failing to provide a specimen for analysis (shown on the licence as CD70).

or 4 years from date of conviction if the offence is as listed below :

reckless/dangerous driving (shown on the licence as DD40,DD60 and DD80),

offences resulting in disqualification.

disqualified from holding a full licence until a driving test has been passed.

or 4 years from the date of offence in all other cases.

Regards
C

No point removing them, you have to pay.

Just wait till you get some more points after the 4 years and the others disappear.

Whats the point, its just tempting faith.

My 60 year old mum has points.

As do most people I know.

If its under 5 points on your licence they don't bump the premium up, 5 and over is when they start to add endorsements/ excesses ect.

They ask for a 5 year record but only look at the points in the last 3 years, if its a minor speeding 'offence'. E.g. SP30, SP50, SP60.
If its traffic light jumping you should be ok.

Drink driving, carless driving, bans ect they do not like full stop to be honest.

Hope this helps.

Interestng.

I have a question relating very closly to this.

I have 3 points (SP30) on my licence which is only a provisional at the moment. Will these be carried over when I complete my DA and get my full licence?

Yes, plus you lose your 12 potential points and get 6. What's funny is that if you got 6 points on your provisional, you could just leave it as a provisional. Pass your test with 6 points and you'd get banned the second you pass! Laughing

Not true, as has been talked about in many a thread.

If you have points on a provisional license, EVEN SIX, then these simply transfer onto your full license.

If you at any point you acrue more then six points, in the first two years after you pass your first test in any vehicle, then your license will be revoked.

IE when if you have six or more on your provisional, any more points you get in the first two years after your first test pass will get it revoked.

i work for the UK's largest motor insurer (RBS Group) till the 9th june anyway - i'm leaving Dance! . what you say is partially correct for us aswell.

any points within 3 years will affect the premium with us. outside of that it wont normally, but may affect your excess if you have more than 1 (hit and miss whether it does). as above if its an insurance offence, drink driving, dangerous driving, etc... bend over and lube up, cos your gonna get raped!

Usually the best place to go is wherever you were insured previously. They have to insure you but they will bump the premium up and excesses. They know you will have difficulty in getting insurance and take advantage of this. They may not cover you for comp either.

My brother was banned, he actually went to confused.com where you get lots of quotes that vary substantially. When you ring any companies up let them know you points/ ban and how long for before they ask for the rest of your details. They will soon let you know if they can or can't insure you. Also save you time on constantly giving your details out.

Depending on when you were banned and what for will decipher how long it is on your licence for and it will be carried forward if you pass your test. Very Happy

thanks for the advice mr cheeky, i was a bad boy but ive learnt my lesson now. I recieved a two year ban for dangerous driving and i got banned three years ago for drink driving for nine months with one of them courses.

As im coming upto my ban being lifted i want to start again on the right foot and dont want to lie to insurance companies hoping that im not going to have an accident and hurt someone. But it seems that they are forcing my hand into breaking the law again. Im working for myself now and need some kind of transport to get to and from work. It winds me up that ive served my time for my law breaking yet i still have to serve another sentence that the insurance companies are imposing. bah im sorry im ranting

Thats ok, except its Miss Cheekie!! Laughing Wink

To be honest, they will find out if you lie i'm afraid. They have a database which all insurance companies have access to and eventually it will catch up on you.

Get a cheap run around, low engine for a year or 3.

i apologise miss,

thanks for that i just got an old gpz500 for the same purpose but i think im gonna have trouble with that, i tried getting quotes at a different address in my street with a different name so nothing shows on my name. i even tried to get a quote for a 1 litre car but got no joy. Im gonna check out the feasability of being a named driver on someone elses policy, or i might insure a 125 for a lot more than its worth with carol and just ride my bike on that and get me freinds to tax it.
