You should need just the appropriate spanner*/allen key to remove the calliper bolts and your fingers to push the pistons back in.
You may find you also need some or all of the following:
G-clamp; file; mole grips; hammer; hacksaw; angle grinder; sticking plasters; new calliper:
Depending on how well looked after the bike was previously and if they put copper grease on any threads and sliding pins when it was last reassembled... Which kind of answers the second part of your question.
