Derestricted Mito's and Jetting

Me again, if you're buying a used derestricted mito, how do you know the jetting has been done properly?

And if you could let me know how to check for bent forks and other general tips that'd be great

When/Where are you going to see it?

To check bent forks

1) Look at forks
2) Are they bent?



Check general condition of things like tyres, chain, etc, this will give you an idea of how well the bike's been looked after.

A well lubed, clean chain for example.

thing's to check on a mito

headlight if cracked £320 new £85 s/h

front brake disk

bodged wiring under seat

bent gear selector (difficult gears)

also if it is advertised as a 7 speed check all gears as the 7th gear dog wears very quickly

I should imagine if it wasnt jetted properly the engine would be spluttering when revving

It wouldnt neccesarily be spluttering, but it could be jetted wrongly. All you can really do is ask the seller. Beyond that jets arent expensive, and all it will cost you is a bit of a pain setting it up. As for the bent forks, Toby is a bit inconclusive. Forks can be bent slightly and look ok on appaearance, its best to have a ride of the bike and make sure that it feels right. Other than that theres not loads you can do for this either, but again 2nd hand forks for a mito arent that pricey so worst case scenario for both these probalems isnt really too bad.

Derestricted Jest sizes for the Mito are 120 65 65, 120 being the main jet. You can also tell if it has been done by looking at the air box snorkel on top of the box, if it has small round inlets on the snorkel then it's standard, if they are large square ones then it's been derestricted with a proper cagiva kit. If you just lift the tank you should be able to see the air box without having to remove the seat.

Also if the bike has the standard exhaust on, check if the extra chamber on the left hand side (where it joins the head) has been removed, if it has then it's full power.
