Right, at the top corner of our garden we have a shed, hidden away by connifers, rarely used and just full of random crap and a bit of guttering around it leading to a water butt. Today my mum noticed that the water butt (not a small one!) is missing. Now we were pretty much confused by now, it was full of water an we're sure it was still there a coupke of days ago.

The people who live behind us have spent the past few weeks doing up a garage in their back garden and funnily enough, putting some guttering up around it, which looks like it may one day lead to a water butt, coincidence?

I've had a quick look into their garden via the shed roof and because of the level of the ground on their side it would be more than easy for them to hop over. To top it off there was some washing on the line this morning and a few items have gone walkies, namely female under wear!

So, do I put more under wear on the line and have a stake out then request all items back, or simply hop over and have a look around at night for the water butt then pop round and have a word if it's found. Or simply set fire to their garden and laugh manically?

Set their new garage on fire and put holes in the water butt, if they say anything to you afterwards. Then make a few calls and get some heavies sent in.

Point and laugh as they hurt themselves.

Go round mob-handed to retrieve the water butt if it's there.

Invite the neighbours over for a drink if it's not.

Set up a video camera and put up some more, see if they take the bait. If they do, go round and sort them out.

No-one on their right mind is going to lift a water-butt full of water over a fence - so they'd probably pour the water out first. Is the ground around where it was wet? Also does the water-butt have any distinguishing marks? i.e. could you identify it? I'd probably go and check to see if it is in your neighbour's garden and if it was call the police and accuse them of nicking the underwear at the same time -

Who cares if they did it or not, do the grass seed in the gutters anyway! That sounds great!

Also wait till a certain waterbutt appears in their garden and fill it with gelatine crystals. It will fill the whole thing with jelly that is a git to remove and get rid of!

Thats actually quite gross, either some trampy woman wants to wear second-hand undies, or some pervy bloke wants to sniff the. My sister works in Primark, and says sometimes you get dirty old men watching the ladies buying knickers and rubbing them...ewwwww.
Set a trap by putting some nice clothes out, set up a videocamera at an angle that'll alllow you to see it's definately them or not., ie you can see them entering/exitting their premises. Then take it to the ploice, and it'll be irrefutable
