As much as I love the CRX, sometimes it can be like a spoilt child. Especially around MOT time.....as its MOT always falls on my birthday (or the day before or after). I think its attention seeking.
Anyway, took it for its MOT and it fails. Not exactly unexpected, it is virtually a pensioner now!
It failed on a Tie Rod End having excessive play in it. Fine I thought, not a massive job, finding the part is the difficult bit, it being an import.
Nip off to APD (Motor factors or there abouts) and they manage to source the part and get it delieverd by 3pm. Spiffing, should have it done and ready to be re-MOTed before the day is out....Huh! How stupid am I, I should know better when it involves this spoilt car!
What should have taken no more than an hour, give or take a few mins for fiddling with the tracking, ended up taking 6 1/2 hours....so far! Its not even done yet! Bloody thing!
Heres what remains of the old tie rod, some of it still clings, longingly to the inner rod, refusing to give up its corrosion enduced grip....tomorrow, I shall once again attack with the spinning disk or metal destruction, formally known as the angle grinder (which is actually broken, but should hold out...)

Huh! I fought the car, and I won!
A little more attention with the angle grinder, hammer and a screw driver and the last part of the old tie rod finally gave up and released its grip! As soon as it was off, the inner rod got a good coating of ACF50 (anti corrosion spray, basically an advanced WD40) and the new one wound on without any issues.
Only trouble I expected was for the tracking to be a little off, but its spot on, the old and new tie rods where exactly the same length, so that saves me £40
Anyway, for those interesed, some pics.... |

I really do like it, it's a nice little car, just really can't justify keeping it.
F*cking CRX owners get everywhere, all come crawling out of the woodwork wanting to be bikers.
Or should I say Mini freaks. |

Nice car though the SiR, tried to convince a mate to buy one off the CRX site instead of spending £7.5k on a Focus ST170. |
