Ello all, perhaps a daft question but here goes..
Can a tent be machine washed? without destroying its waterproof abilitys? these got tested at the weekend and not its covered in all kind of crap, the tap but also smells more like a toilet than i'm willing to live with..
Thinking machine because its fudgeing huge, if no detergents were used would it be ok? ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

Both the tents inner and outer should be aired and dried before rolling and packing away. All attempts should be made not to break camop when the tent is wet as this will whiff a bit after a while.
When packing up, use a soft hand brush to get rid of things like grass and fag butts that may be stuck on the underside of the outer, again grass cuttings will start to ming like a compost heap if packed up for any length of time.
If you are concerned about affecting the waterproffness of the outer, there are aftermarket sprays that can be used to improve the waterproofing. You may need to do this after a couple of years anyways as the sun will damage the canvas or nylon. It wont hurt to spray sooner than that especially around the seams and zips. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

you CAN wash tent fabirc in a machine.
BUT i'd SERIOUSLY recommend going to a laundry where the machines are big enough to not squish the tent, and use a soap (eg Dreft) rather than a detergent, as that down't strip off the waterproofing chemicals like detergents do. best practice is to wipe and and air the tent before you put it away tho.

Ive gone over the tarp bit with a bit of washing up liquid, seems to have done the trick.. hoovered it too (hung it up between the two washing lines in the garden upsidedown)
Its been up from wednesday to monday, it was 40 odd degrees all that time till the last hour it was up, which it utter pissed it down :/ at least i know its watertight anyways..
Think i'll get it some spray... got the tent from argos for £50, its been up for a total of two weeks alltogether, and its been really good
Think i'll wait till its got more mud on before doing anything more drastic ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |
