its supposed to put the oil on the sprocket so it goes onto the chain.

You could invest in a Dual injector, they are a bit less likely to mark the sprocket. However I suspect the mark is just the clean bit where the oil washes the dirt off...

an alternative is to moun t the nozzle above the gearbox sprocket. This removes the unsightly pipework of the usual positioning, but does require a higher drip rate due to the fling off, and will leave a few drops of oil under your bike when parked up.

I'd be very suprised if the plastic tube is marking your metal sprocket. Problem I found with them was the tube closing up cos of heat against the sprocket.

Another for the dual injector. Much easier to move into position and much less faffing. The tube can bu twisted to alter the gap from the sprocket. I have mine directly over the O-rings.

Just aim the black tube further out. The black tube is too flexible so to reposition it bend the white tube. There is a metal wire running inside that tube so just grip it and bend. Positioning the black tube a fraction further out from the sprocket so it doesn't make contact. Ideally you want it to be driping oil on the chain at the 6 O'clock position of the sprocket.

Dripping on to the sprocket is the best place to have it. If you sit it so that the drips go onto the outside of the front sprocket the lube gets 'flung' off rarther than pushed through thet chain if dripped into the inside on the rear. Just leave it where it is, thats where its ment to be.

Mine

Rubbing on the sprocket is no big deal and that's the best place for it so that the oil is forced into the chain with the centrifugal force rather than coating everything else on your bike.

If it's doing it's job then leave it be.

But if it rubs on the sprocket, could it not wear through and spill oil (or whatevers inside) all over the rear wheel??

No, it won't spill out Very Happy ... The end of the tube is a hole anyway, it won't make any difference where the hole is or even if the nipple tube is there at all - it just wouldn't aim very well, but the flow would be the same. The flow is regulated by the reservoir which in turn is regulated by engine pressure. The top of the tube is sealed by a plunger that is moved by this air pressure from the carbs/throttle bodies when the engine is running. The amount this plunger moves is controlled by the user when setting the flow rate. There is no possible way for the oil to come out in any quantities larger than the user specified flow rate. (on average 2 drops a minute)
