I'm with Pipex, and have not really had any issues, its only been down once in the 2 years I've had it.

Most of the mainstream BB ISP's are good. You'll be looking to pay anything from £20 a month depending on how much you want to download.
You now pay for what you download rather than the line speed.

Who is you ISP now ?
It's easier to keep the same if you've got an important email address etc.

It takes up to 10 days to get the broadband activated aswell.

I moved from Pipex this year, I had no issues with them although they are expensive compared to the opposition. They were also brining in traffic shaping which wasn't good.
I joined Nildram. I think it's £25, for a 50gb allowance.

We don't pay for our BB, so it's not too much of a problem - however we are thinking about moving. So will deffo consider Nildram.

Pipex Thumbs Up

BTOpenWoe don't even go there IMO.

Assume you're looking to get ADSL rather than cable?

Telewest.

By far and away the best ISP in my opinion. In 4 years or so the only time we went down was because a lorry smashed through the exchange (and I know that wasn't bullshit because it's in front of my house). Plus they upgrade the line every 6 months, in the next few weeks I should be going onto 4MB from 2MB which will be my second free upgrade. Always helpful on the phone as well, highly recommended.

Thumbs Up

If you have an NTL phone line, you cannot get BT (and the rest - telewest etc) broadband unless you get a BT line installed.

Dish, didnt think it could be done through the phone line.

I want to get a wireless system so I can use it upstairs on my PC as well as on the old thing downstairs. I have been looking at www.madasafish.com but they seem to have just normal routers for installation! I can get a wireless router from a guy at work, would it work as I intend if I was to run the cable straight into that?

Remember to get an ADSL modem router not just a plain router.

Wow, there are a few hidden costs when getting BB, option 2 would cost me £25 for the wireless router. But option 3 would have that included in the price. Would then need to spend £40 on 2 wireless 802.11g USB doggles.

Pipex/zen/eclipse/nildram would be my personal choice, i'm with zen but will prob be going pipex soon, haven't heard a bad thing about the four i mentioned.

Ste, BT openworld is a lot better then it was since they took yahoo... although there are still better isps and to get a decent cap from bt you have to pay the sort of money that would get you an uncapped service from an isp with a better rep.

Yeah, the only problem I had was when my webspace went down and they weren't *that* helpful, but it's all sorted now.

I think it's £28.99 or something stoopid, but we can get upto anything upto £30 and the other halfs work pay for it Thumbs Up
