Alright, I never actually finished this write up, so here we go:

Got everything put back together with standard can fitted and put the bike in for her 32000 mile service in March - no problems found so now I just needed to book an MOT.

Luke's just sold his Bandit and doesn't want to ride it for the couple of days until the new owner collects it, so I offer use of the CBR while I'm up at Lydden doing the pit crew thing. Get a meek phonecall on the Friday, along the lines of "You know I've been using your bike..." No, he hadn't stacked it, just discovered that one of the fork seals had gone.

So, new seals are ordered and MarJay and Robby have volunteered to help me fit them (as it looks complicated!). I decide to replace the original brake lines with braided ones at the same time, so get those in as well and we spend a day in the garage getting everything together. The fork doesn't look bent, so we put it down to 'one of those things'.

Finally get her in for MOT (passes no problems), and get myself booked on a Lydden trackday. There's a slight issue that the bars don't seem quite straight, which G tries to sort at Mallory, but it all handles okay so I ignore it.

Night before our trackday, we spend some time fitting track fairings to Luke's SV. With no lights or indicators, it's suggested that he takes my bike to work that morning...

He returns, about 10 mins later with the news that the fork seal's gone again! The right fork must be bent, perhaps far enough up that I haven't pushed them that far but Luke's more enthusiastic riding style has, perhaps he just looked and I didn't. Either way, no trackday for this bike so I borrow G's SV instead.

Find myself a set of rebuilt forks with Ohlins springs for £140 on eBay and swap them out, hoping to improve the slightly squidgy front end as well as fix the bentness. Another £40 at sees the suspension guy at Cadwell completely overhaul the suspension settings of the whole bike, first establishing a baseline of 'this'll work better' and then tweaking it where I felt there was a problem - namely dropping the forks (well raising them, technically) by another 7mm in order to make it turn more quickly.

So, after 8 months of dicking around, she's finally back to a fully working state, and we've got a running joke that Luke never gets to ride her ever again, even though I'm sure it wasn't his fault really. Wink

Still looks good from a distance. Very Happy
