This topic's been posted on Aprilia forum but I thought i'd share it with you guys as well.

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0011.jpg

I've recently brought another RS125 - £500 it's a 2000 model, 14k on the clock and rebuilt 2k ago, the owner was my mate and it hasn't been razzed at all, the only problem is the carb timing and it needs a new powervalve cable and clutch cable.

The plastics on it are mint rossi rep ones, so i'm not going to spray these, i've decided to spray my spare panels, anyway, here's what I have done so far.

MODIFICATIONS

Polished Yolk
Sprayed all bolts around the yolks gold
re-sprayed the bar that connects to the yolk and switchgear (black)
Fitted new bar ends (gold Razz).
Sprayed the rear brake caliper Gold with a mirror polished 'circle' on it.
Polished the front brake master cylinder + sprayed all bolts Gold
Fitted 45 tooth rear sprocket and renthal gold o-ring chain
Fitted new sparkplug (didn't take long Razz).
Gave the carb a good old clean out - same with airbox
Lubed up cables + copper slip grease loads of bolts
Fitted the front caliper and connected all components up - just need to bleed it now.
Totally removed rear brake system and given it a new lease of life
Polished Rear Brake Hanger
Polished Tank Cap
Gold Sidestand
New Grips
Stainless Steel Braided Lines
Stainless steel + C/F Exhaust System
Re-painted the front sub frame
Custom Sprayed Solo Seat
LED Dashboard and sidelights (Blue)
16 Tooth Front Sprocket
Changed the gearbox oil + Gasket
Fitted New Clutch cable
Fitted powervalve cable
De-carboned the powervalve

++ More I cannot think of.

These are both of my bikes, the one on OUR right just had its clutch replaced so i kept the fairing off to look for leaks.

The spray paint I used on the bike so far (I've now brought about 10 more Razz).

BEFORE AND AFTER Razz

Ok, now for propper pictures, this is how the caliper looked when I first removed it from the bike - someone doesn't know how to bleed brakes properly and it's ripped all the paint off:

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/S2020032.JPG

Nasty eh?

Here it is now, loosely fitted to the bike with my new braided lines :

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0029.jpg

this is the other side of the caliper getting sprayed gold with gold enamal paint - REALLY GOOD STUFF by teh way.

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0030.jpg

Not the best picture, but this is after it got sprayed, i fitted it loosely again to the bike - the black plastic cap hides the red paint still insdie Razz

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0036.jpg

Viewing through the other side of the wheel - this view looks really good, love that gold! Also I know my wheels need a clean Razz

Side-stand

This looks like it's already been sprayed before, looks shit so off it goes lol.

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0031.jpg

Getting sprayed the same gold as the caliper:

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0032.jpg

And how it turned out:

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0037.jpg

While the bike was stripped I gave the subframes a quick painting with QD90 - rust / fuel / chip / heat proof looks good too!

And finally the solo seat:

Original Yoke

After Polishing:

Paint Stripped rear caliper + kind of polished front:

Caliper fitted and all pads etc re-fitted:

The sprocket:

Sprocket and chain partially fitted (need to get 3 links taken out.)

First grit on the polished master cylinder:

Stand fitted:

POLISHED TANK CAP

Polished Tank Cap - SUCH an easy mod and looks so good, just took I'd say around 30 minutes, I need some gold tank bolts for around it now though. lol

Here's a pic:

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0066.jpg

Looks great Smile I love the engraved 'aprilia bit', because the aprilia text and outside is polished, with a grey center, looks cool, I'll get some more pictures soon.

CLEANING Razz

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0067.jpg

Just a picture of me polishing the frame / swinger and gave the chain / sprocket a good old clean.

Not really, tank cap only took 30 minutes and it's got a brilliant finish on it, yoke was about 2 hours due to it being VERY HARD anodised, but thanks for all the kind comments, I'm sure it's gonna look great when i'm finished lol

What are you using to do the polishing? In particular the petrol cap. Mr. Green

Looks like a decent project, hope it turns out well.

That's possible the most ill-fitting braided hose I've ever seen, congrats.

Nice project though.

woooh those braided lines are way too long for that bike.
any hard braking and it might cause the lines to kink and then your in the shit.

Unlikely but it is an MOT failure.

That's the rear hose lol, I just put it on quickly to admire how cool they looks, and I doubt it'd kink...it is stainless steel.

Also not an MOT failiure, we don't have MOT.

But yer, the real front braided lines are not that long Razz

UPDATE!

Ok, things have been going a bit slow recently, partly because I'm working full time at the moment to get more money for the bike Very Happy, and car, and also I'm creating a portfolio for job interviews in the graphics design scene.

Anyway, enough excuses, the only work that's really been done is some more spraying:

Lacquered rear seat unit:

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0072.jpg

This was taken whilst the lacquer was still wet and orange-peel like, I've got to wait till next week till I can compound it, and then it'll be shining Smile.

Next part:

https://www.akiraprise.com/project/Photo-0071.jpg

Thats the front fairing fully prepped. I'm not too sure how to spray it though, anyone got any ideas? The colour scheme is as the solo tail is, black, orange, red and white.

On a side note, I've got yet to be fitted:

Rear brake pads (EBC Cintered)
Full stainless steel Scorpian exhaust and carbon weave end can (thanks Vickers!!!)
Front brake and clutch lever (£12 brand new - bargain!!!)

Thanks I'll get some more pictures as I work on it.

i like that concept Palmer, I'd never thought of using the red as the primary bike colour, I presumed it would've been black, I reccon it'd look cool like that, I'll make up a photoshop of the whole bike tomorrow.

cheers for the contribution
