hey guys,

ive got a 2001 Suzuki Bandit SY, restricted to 33bhp. the normal spark plugs for it are NGK CR9EK, but the garage that restricted it also serviced it at the same time and put the CR8EK plugs in saying they are better cos of the restriction. The suzuki garage near me says its better to stick with the correct plug, not the one the garage that restricted it put in.

Any help wud be greatly apreciated cos i dont know much about spark plugs!!!

thanks guys

A CR8 is one grade hotter than a CR9.

Hi

Does make sense. Lower number with NGK plugs means a lower temperature range. Less likely to foul up. Don't know if they have had issues with restricted bikes fouling plugs.

All the best

Keith

Sure?

I always thought a lower number was a hotter plug?

Hi

Yes, correct. Auto typing!

Higher number for hotter running engines = colder plug.

Lower number for colder running engines = hotter plug.

All the best

i suspect the garage is right to run a hotter plug (the 8) on a restricted engine, as you run a restricted rs125 on a hotter plug too
