there's a few of us looking at riding together in either the US or Oz - most of us have been on bikes for years, but there's one newby on a restricted licence - does anyone know what that means for riding abroad??? Confused

Thanks for any help

As far as I'm aware it should be no problem - but see what others say first.

I have a feeling you need a full licence to ride in most countries. You might also have a problem hiring bikes.

It depends whether the authorities regard it as a full license with a temporary power restriction, or a restricted license (in the sense that it is not a 'full' license).

I got onto the NSW authorities and it doesn't seam to be a problem - provided visitors have a full car licence they can drive anything (including bikes) up to a tonnage limit - seams mad but who am I to say?

There, you're restricted to 250cc for one year then not at all - so my pall's riding experience is more than equivalent to an open licence there too....

We're being lent some bikes so no probs with the hiring companies - looks like Oz best watch out... Very Happy
