Due to Gaz not being able to make it due to mechanical reasons and overly-bureaucratic insurance companies, his space in our group of 3 is available.

Portsmouth to Bilbao, 29 hours, ferry leaving 12pm Midday, 23rd July, this Sunday, sharing a cabin of 3. Ferry is one way (www.atferries.com/)

Ship is a mini cruise liner, has swimming pool, Casino etc.

We're going on a loop of Spain and Portugal, dropping into places such as Madrid, Gibralter, Ronda, Barcelona, then going back through the Pyrennes to Nice in South-East France before heading back up through the Alps, Mont Blanc and Switzerland. Strictly on a budget, camping as much as possible to keep costs down (expected over 80% of time).

Basic route:-
https://www.motocapers.com/bcfroutes/triproute.JPG

Trip duration - 3 weeks, 3,500 miles.
Total expected cost inc new tyres and ferrys etc - under £1k.

If you fancy it you're free to come along with us or go your own way after getting off the ferry. Just be aware we're on more of a backpacker-style holiday than luxury hotels, on a suspect GPZ500 and 84,000km VFR400 Wink

Ticket is advance cost price @ £157.

Go on, you know you want to Wink

As a little taster into what our trips comprise of you can have a read of our trip to Rome last year here https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=56578

Perhaps if you are a little nervous about doing a tour for the first time with no experience, joining Maurice and myself who have done this twice before could be ideal?

I can't go but wish you a good journey.

I really recommend catching the ferry from Gibraltar to Morocco. Have a little ride around Tangiers and come back.

You will be able to say you have ridden your bike to Africa and back!

Have fun

Cheers Smile. Problem with a day trip to Morocco is the paperwork hassle and bribes/admin fees/touts you have to deal with/pay. Think we're gonna leave Morocco until we can do it properly another time, though you never know.

for mauriceand shaun:

too bad about the crash, hope you can carry on okay.

i stopped in gibralta last week and they wanted nearly 10quid to go up the rock! still enjoyed being there but something tobare in mind if you'd be going out your way to get there (i didn't go up the rock for that money!)

don't think a meetup is possible unfortunately as i head down into italy before the end of the week.

looking at your route you go from teruel to the coast. to the north east of teruel is a couple of mountainranges with some great roads which will take you north albeit slower than the autovia. that was the best part of spain i visited on this trip.
