Bike Gear: Your best buy

In 1990 ( ) I was touring Scotland and had some pretty basic gloves that got absolutely sodden in the lovely Scottish weather.

Stopped in Oban and bought a pair of waterproof Sportex gloves from a bike shop for about £30 - and I still have them!
What's more they are still warm and more or less waterproof.
Money well spent I think - so what's your star buy?

Not really a 'buy' but i got a free buff with bike magazine a couple of years ago and i still use it on most rides.

My boots were also a good buy, 70 odd quid and i've done about 12,000 miles in them. The lining comes out occasiobally but still good.

Lookwell boots (they one do one model, but it's so good you don't need anymore). Comfy, protective (ok it might do with more but it's no race boot), good price and they are sooo comfy. (yeah yeah i mentioned that before).

I'm also very happy with my Shoei Raid helmet.

Shoei Raid with a brand new smoked visor for £32. Which is about the same price as the smoked visor by itself. So effectively, it came with a free helmet.

Got another Raid for about £55, which is decent when you consider I was happy to pay £185 for my first one.

My textile trousers were about £30 off ebay and I've been wearing them for years. Bargain.

Oxford Sports bumbag thing, my leathers have no pockets and my bike has next to zero storage space, i can carry a surprising amount in the thing. Oh and its survived to offs

Bagster tank jacket and tank bag...........................................

Ride to wherever on my weekend rides,when I get there I get me trainers out of the bag,put my boots,gloves and one piece leathers it the tank bag,lock me helmet to the bike,throw the shoulder strap over me shoulder and walk round wherever I am nice an' cool in me shorts an' vest.........no more sweaty leather walking/lounging about.....................result !!

a few yrs ago bought EDZ undersuit £40. Best bit of kit ever. I've tried to tell everyone i meet to buy one. keep the warm in in winter and the hot out in summer. Oh and my alpinestars waterproof over jacket. with that and heated grips i wore leathers all last winter.

Were £60, and they have yet to leak 3 years on, and they're comfy and can walk about in them for hours!
