Right,
Im contemplating changing bike from the ZX6R I'm currently on. Mainly because it costing me abit too much to insure than Im comfortable with.

Today i was looking at insurance on the Z750. Best quote I could find was £581 with a company called NIG through Hanson and Roberts brokers, Great I though, much better on my wallet.

So I called my current insurers and the best quote they could get me wasn't too different for what I'm paying on the ZX6. I told them about the quote I'd had with NIG and they said that the quote NIG gave them was way more then what I'm paying now Confused

So why can NIG give one broker a great price, and the other a crap one?

I don't want to have to change company TBH due to paying fee's and losing 3 months on my NCB (already lost 6 coz had to change company when I bought the ZX6)

Strange.

Well I just e-mailed NIG to see if they could match the quote through my current brokers.

What do you reckon the odds are!?

I am 25, dont have any no claims bonus as only had full UK license since Nov 05. Fully comp on my 98 zx6r = £1000 all the way to £2500 a year depending on insurer.

Got it TPFT for £605 in the end from Direct choice brokers. My VFR400NC24 only costs me £240 a year TPFT

The biggest difference is usually how much they skim off the top.

When my little Senda 125 was stolen back in January '05 they sent an inspector to value it, who put it down as being worth £1600. Bear in mind the bike had 42 miles on it when it was stolen and I'd paid £2800 for it a few weeks before.

When I received the letter saying that was what they thought it was worth of course I complained, seeing as I knew it was worth a lot more. They were very unhelpful and basically said that's what we think it's worth, tough. They then said if I can prove it's worth more then I had to get them written confirmation and they would adjust accordingly. I contacted the dealer and he told me that with that mileage he'd have it in the shop for £2600. Of course I contacted them and told them this (the dealer offered to fax them a copy of it over or ring them) and they were adamant it was worth no more than they were going to pay out. There customer service was absolutely diabolical, so again I contacted the dealer who said he'd faxed a valuation off to them. Then 2 or 3 days later I received a call from Black Horse saying that a cheque for £1600 had been received and that I still owed £xxxx, as you can imagine I was fuming. ANOTHER call to them later (remember this was all on my mobile as I was at work at the time) and they still REFUSED to pay any more, even though I'd done all they asked. The thing that really, really annoyed me was that numerous times I'd refused there offer, and yet they still had the front to send it off anyway as if to say 'Fuck you, that's all your getting'.

In the end I contacted the Financial Ombudsman and Tradings Standards and lo and behold a cheque for the remainder was sent within a few days.

Without doubt the biggest bunch of arseholes I've had the misfortune to deal with.

Absolutely astonishing! Cannot believe they can just ignore all the evidence - and produce nothing to show how you were supposed to replace the bike for £1600 Rolling Eyes
