I did an insurance quote on an NSR and it was was just 40 pounds more a year then my current one so I cant see this would be much more?
I will go to veiw it if I have time, they have said if I buy they will bring it back.
I will try to get them to do an MOT first. Its 25 quid out of my pocket, but Id rather spend 25 quid and find out it needs 'X' amount done Thumbs Up

I would have a chack myself over the MOT but, Im useless and wouldnt know what to look for.

She said the Speedo dosnt work, tyred to re-connect the wires but still no joy.
Her partner has had a look over the bike and he said it looks ok.
What do I look out for?

Can someone point me into the right direction on what to check for, for MOT ect. Will pop up there later today if I can after work. Only in Southampton.

Check the headstock bearings aren't notchy when you turn the bars lock-to-lock. If you feel even the slightest notchiness you'll need to replace them. Hold the bike upright (not on the stand) and gently swing the bars gently left and right just either side of dead straight. If you feel a slight "lump" as you go past the middle you need new bearings. Put the front brake on and rock the bike back & forth

Swingarm bearings are a pain to change and can be expensive, so check there's no left-right movement in the swingarm. There shouldn't be on that age bike TBH. It's hard to check without a centrestand so if there's any looseness it will be bad.

Sit on the bike and bounce the front forks down by pushing on the bars (or get the owner to do that for you) then go round by the front wheel and run your finger around the fork stanchion (the chrome leg of the forks) just below the seal. If there's ANY wet oil there even a slight film they will fail it and you'll need to fit new seals. While you're there make sure the chrome on the forks is still shiny and doesn't have very dull patches front and rear (sometimes with a slight brassy colour) like it's been rubbed with emery cloth. If it has the chrome on the leg is wearing out. Won't fail the MOT just for that but it will leak oil soon if it isn't already as it wears the seals out. It's usual for the chrome to be SLIGHTLY less dull on the front so long as you don't have a well-defined "island" shape or colour change.

Apart from that, make sure it starts easily, and settles down to a nice tickover and only smokes lightly when warmed. Ask the owner to show you what 2-stroke he uses. The aprilias will only last on top quality oil. Budget 2-stroke oil will wear out the engine in no time.

Looking at the photos again, you can see that the tyres haven't been abused, so no hooligan-burnouts there, and the full, honest description says a lot for the guy too. Sounds like the guy has gone out of his way to make sure there's no surprises.

dont worry about stalling mate every one does i stalled loads on my lessons for my bike test, i stalled once in my bike test as well but i passed with only 4 minors, hell i stalled today when my clutch cable snapped in the middle of fucking scarbrough
