So, this weekend was the open day for the Royal Enfield Importers Watsonian-squire in a little place called Blockley between Banbury and Cheltenham. I was very tempted with the idea of a Royal Enfied because of their classic looks and modern mpg etc. that i decided to go and have a butchers at their fleet. Not having my ybr for too long i thought it would be a laugh to stretch its legs...

It was forecast to be about 29degrees that day so in a bag i packed 2l of drink and a packed lunch, But it was also forecast to rain so i also packed waterproofs etc and all that other stuff that takes up alot of room, lock, maps etc. I left at about 9:30 and headed towards Oxford in beautiful sunshine. I had to stop at the oxford ring to refuel as i left with only 1/4 tank. So £4.90 later i was on my way again making good time. I was amazed at how well the bike performed considering the clutter on it and strapped to the pillion. It was able to keep up with the traffic, it accelerated well (for a 125) and held the road beautifully (advanced training is a blessing), the roads were quite clear (all A roads) and i was never the cause of a que!

I got there and parked up amongst bikes of all ages and had a great time for about 2 hours until it started raining. Oh how it rained. Lightning right above us and super loud, lost power a fer times too. My mind is made up and i will be buying an electra X after crimbo Very Happy .

Anyhoo an hour standing under a tent wondering if the rain was going to stop was boring and it blatently wasnt to i put my waterproofs on and headed for the bike. *Note to self buy waterproof boots and gloves DOH!)*

Even in the pouring rain the bike handled well and i was not scared about rding it at all even with its rubber band tyres. It wasnt too uncomfortable (6ft) and i felt i could keep going quite happily. The trip cost about £4.50 petrol and im really pleased with the bike. 10/10

125's dont suck aslong as you dont expect to exceed the times on multimap Very Happy

Ahhh those were the days!

Sounds like you really enjoyed yourself, despite the little downpour - still a lesson learnt, waterproof gear can make life so much better. Thumbs Up

Top stuff, 125's will still get you there. Put 718 miles on mine the other weekend and it gave me no problems at all.

my dt does around 150 miles for a £7.50 varied riding (10L tank, 2.5L of that is reserve and I fillup when I hit reserve). some days im sensible others im a twat. I reckon I could get even more out of it if I tried. I could make the fuel gauge barely move on my speedfight 100 when I wanted Very Happy

My DT does between 40 - 60 miles to full tank which cost me about £7 - £8 Evil or Very Mad

I did Wolverhampton to Brighton and back in 2004 on my old CBR125 avoiding Motorways and I was still on L's back then.

Cue 600 odd miles, was a laugh though.

has it always been like that? I do 50 miles a week minimum and only fill up once a week. I got my bike at around 4000 miles and its on 4700+ miles and ive filled it up only a handful of times. I know I got around 125 miles on my first full tank and still had reserve which I think should be capable of 25 miles.

you either hammer your bike.... Or I dont hammer mine enough! Do you always use full throttle?

How are they unreliable? If you are refering to 2t 125's then i can sort of see where you are coming from as they require particular care and attention. However i ride a cbr125 and I have had it just over a month now, in that month I've done nearly 2000 miles and not a single thing has gone wrong with it, its due for a service which means new chain and sprockets and tyres but I wouldn't call that unreliable. I'l be taking it on some long journeys soon and i have every faith it will hold up and keep me going.

Hi

Used to regularly do 300 mile return trips at the weekend on 125 2 strokes, plus any miles running round at the weekend.

All the best
