Right I'm after emloyment and big places like tescos/ asda/ sainsburys seem to be a good plan.

Anyone work in any of them or any others? Are any of them good/ bad or all the same?

I'm planning on trying to get in on the electrics department probably at big tescos Question

I work at Sainsburys.

Quite frankly it is a shite comapny to work for. They don't give a shit about the employees, or morale throughout the company. Wages aren't too bad, but they make sure you earn it! I do still skive off a lot, but it is an art in Sainsburys not getting caught

The only good thing I can say is that I have met some really good mates (and birds Wink ) through my work

i work in woolworths in the entertainment section, tis ok, shit pay, but you can sit there and chat with mates and stuff Smile

not exactly sainsbury's or Asda but the CD section and stuff will be the same.

Go and find out, and if you don't like it leave! lol

what ever you go for, good luck

Do you know if having A levels will help you start up the ladder slightly higher than if you had just gone into the job straight from school?

The reason i ask is because i cant decide whether im wasting my time doing A levels!

Not a supermarket job I wouldn't of thought. But A levels will open up other opportunities and will make you more employable/promotable.

Graduates with ace grades start right at the bottom in Sainsbury's, lower than me. They care about experience more than grades

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what section of a supermarket you end up working at because they're going to put you at the bottom of the ladder. The only way you'd end up getting a decent post would be either if you had extensive experience, or you've done some type of managerial course.

When it's come to jobs I've been quite lucky. I haven't had to go for interviews or even hand in CV's, they've kind of shown up by giving my phone number out or someone has asked me if I wanted the job.

I think the most interesting job so far was working in a bong shop in Camden, then again working at FX Hair Salon in Angel was quite the laugh, especially with all the b*tchy male stylists. The tips weren't bad either.

As for the most frustrating that would have to be doing translations. Yes it's good money, but it's a bit of a strain.

I have worked for Sainsburys and currently Tesco's in my view Tescos is far better as they don't put you on stupid flexi contracts which annoy you too the fullest plus i get a rasie every 6 months and in general Tescos do treat you alot better bit of a dodgy administration department but it's alright.

I work at Asda. It's shit. I met Rachel there which is probably one of the only reasons I stay there. I get paid £5.06 an hour and I do fuck all apart from talk to people I know who come in the shop.

I worked at PC World for 3 years, pretty good company to work for. Always giving incentives and bonus payments for stuff. Reckon you would stand a good chance there. They had a ban on new recruits due to a bad christmas, our local shop was running 8 staff under where it should be. As this ban has now been lifted there should be at least 4 openings per store by my reckoning.

I wos one of them nerdy PC Clinic guys, sit on my arse all day looking at other peoples dodgy files......great stuff.

If only you seen what I have seen........ scary shit.

The best one was the guy that took before and after pics off his daughter's boob job...... Laughing

I work at Sainsbury's

As Dodd said, they couldn't give a toss about the employees, i found the other day I have been payed a band lower than I should have been for the last 6 months Evil or Very Mad

I think like most places (as other people have said here), if you get the right department, you will be ok, because you can do nothing all day if you are clever Smile

I used to work on grocery, that was good, because you can skive around out back. But then I got moved to STY (Sainsburys To You - Internet shopping bit) and I hate it. Our workload exceeds that which we are capable of doing, so we are always under pressure to work, and we can never slow down Crying or Very sad

The only reason I still work there is because I make the majority of my money as a watersports instructor, and so i don't have a job for 5 months through the winter Confused , and i still have to eat through the winter, and not many other places are as good as Sainsburys when i need to swap hours, and there is always lots of overtime if I need it etc

I would only go to a supermarket as either a last resort or as a place to work while you find another job.

Chris

Nerdy? That must mean why I couldn't get a job there Razz ...from what I (and someone else on this forum) gathered, Monkey World were more concerned with your potential sales ability rather than your outright technical knowledge, and that I was probably over-qualified for the job (Sad)...ho hum.

Mike it all depends what you want to do, if you want to work in a supermarket then A-levels probably wont help (unless you want a managerial role). If you want to go on to Uni or want a specialized type of job you unfortunately will have to stick it out and get he training you need mate.

Laughing Now that would have been interesting, but personally I think a father having pictures of what his daughter's breasts look like is a bit weird. Of course if she was totally unsatisfied with what nature gave her and then wanted to show them off to world, I guess I could find some kind of incentive to it.
