I get chased alot , people get pissed off at a 14 YO more rust than steel bike burning off their super super new sports cars , BMWs are the worst , my question is this , if somebody chases you trying to kill you just how ethical is it to lead them to a speed trap?.

This BMW was sideways trying to chase me this morning , and he followed me until I hit some traffic and could escape via filtering.

I'm never bitter and feel it fun sometimes but lately some guys have been getting real real close.

You wont gain anything by it. You will slow down, he will slow down and then once through - both speed up.

Carry on as you are. Or leave earlier and dont overtake.

Why should you change because of knobs like this?

'I M O':
If you don't want to race, slow down.

If you wouldn't want someone to try and get you caught by a speed trap, don't do it to others.

I suspect that generally the car drivers just want a 'bit of fun' - and are presuming you do to (which is often the case).

Agreed, half the time they are just trying to find a way to break up the monotonous daily commute, it's not them being shocked at being beaten by a 14 year old bike. People just don't think like that.

What do you do to provoke this sort of reaction? ( a lot, you claim)
I never had this happen and have been riding 25 years.

Same here. A lot of my ride to work is on NSL roads. One of the bikes I use for work is over 20 years old and it still overtake cars on these roads without many problems, most of those that want to race are on bikes. Occasionally I get someone that speeds up because they don't want me to pass, but I just hang in there until I'm ready. The majority of people actually move over to the left of the lane to let me filter past. Must be a regional thing since I've noticed things get worse the further south I travel.

slow down? I'm on about forward facing ones or there are a couple where the road curves away to the left into a sharp turn

You want to try overtaking a 'boy racer' on a vintage bike with white on black numberplates. Even if they were doing 50mph on an NSL dual carriageway, they will be right up your chuff in a matter of seconds.

It's then down to a decision of do I add insult to injury. I think a lot depends on what vehicle you are driving.

One memorable occasion this happened with a chavved up Nova when I was on my Dads KH350. I cruised past him doing a steady 70mph (in a vain attempt to get the tank range over 55 miles). Next news he comes honking up behind me with his dustbin exhaust blaring. Well, I'm sorry but no, down two gears and eat my triple plumes of smoke bumfluff features.

Had a similar thing to an extent when riding big dirt bikes.

As to the speed trap thing, most of them are clearly visible on the approach these days. If they didn't see it, that's their tough shit, they should learn some observation skills before waving their cock about. I got a guy in an XK8 an absolute beauty through one of the Gatsos on the A90 one time "shut the throttle, full brakes and he'll fly right by" *flash.flash*.

I don't understand it - these things don't happen to me how is it some people seem to attract them like magnets?
