Hi All got the above bike and it's got a oil leak from the clutch side i.e on the right as sitting on the bike, When i drained the oil and took the cover of there wasn't a gasket on should there be or is it just instant gasket ?

I would think there should be a gaskit on the clutch caseing,Your best
bet is to ring your local honda shop and say you would like to order
the gaskit and they will check the micro fiche if it is on that then there
should one.

Local Honda is m&s at newcastle or durham, Durham is closer whenever i try to order a part no matter what bike they always say it's a import. Went there Monday to order bushes for forks on vf400 fd straight away they said it's a import and they don't have bushes fitted in the forks ? Surprised

, Went to another shop and ordered straight away

You'll now be in the "good luck finding parts" phase. Which is probably why it has no gasket fitted Smile

Honda will be very little help because it's an import and it's so old, you'll be relying on people who can supply pattern parts or who specialise in old stock like david silver spares.

Liquid gasket should do the trick for a clutch cover, but you are maybe better off trying to make your own gasket out of gasket paper/cereal boxes.

i used to have one of these back in new zealand, brilliant bike,if all else fails and you can't find a gasket you could always make one, its a pain staking job but if your've got no other option then do it, you can get gasket paper from most engine places or avaiable on ebay as well

ordered gasket of david silver 7.00 quid also new clutch, springs, washers & bolts. Might as well do it as the cover is off Very Happy

Just got to rebuild forks and clutch then MOT it

Bought a zxr 750H on a H reg for 750 quid needed front brakes bleeding and also fitted goodridge hoses all round then polished frame and sold it for more than double the money Very Happy

Got to find a pan european crash job to do up next for me and the wife and get a cbf 600 for me the older the better
