Bad curry

I didnt think it would be possible to get a bad curry, but Dad treated us both to a takeaway last night, at a place we'd been before. And I was very disappointed with mine. It hardly had any flavour at all.

So this afternoon (I can never managed to eat a whole curry), I mixed in some more chopped tomatoes, and dollop of Special Caribbean savoury sauce, some curry powder, and some tomato puree and made my not so nice curry into a very yummy curry! That and some poppadums and rice is what I have in store for my dinner tonight....

You know, theoretically 'curry powder' doesn't exist. It's one of those English things we invented and tried to pass off as authentic all because someone couldn't be bothered to buy real spices and mix them together in a properly prepared meal, therefore branding a curry with that horrible taste.

A real curry tastes nothing like curry powder.

One time I ate some curry at this Indian restaurant and it gave me the squirts for a whole week ( had to run to the toilet every 20 minutes or there about). Luckily I recovered just a couple of days before the exam period started or else I would have been f***ked. Must have been dodgy chicken.

Other than that bad experience, curry is good!

Remember those adverts on C4 where they had all the celebrities answering the random questions? All the TV chefs answered curry, that's good enough for me. Even if I don't like the gits (except maybe Gordon Ramsay) they know enough about food to know what's good. I am a curry convert.

The thing I really can't take is Chinese sweet and sour. It just doesn't go right (for me anyway).

Other than that Chinese is very nice.

I have to admit that some of the nicest food / curry that I have ever tried is Ethiopian food (no starvation jokes please. ). It goes really well with beer aswell.

I've lived in Brick Lane for 27 years and tasted Korma's from every restaurant here. Recently I've come to the conclusion the best Korma is from tesco's and costs £4.50 for 3. Serious.

I love curry, we have some of the best restaurants up here in Manchester on Curry mile in Rusholme.

I go atleast once a month, but always to the same restaurant, called Shahenshah, and every curry I have from there is devine!
Non of this korma and tikka masala crap either.

My fave curry is something called a Karahi, love the ginger and coriander in it.

Oh and MarJay, a proper curry doesn't have to be spicy, I prefer the more aromatic dishes with depth of flavour.

Oh and chinese curry is awful, chipshop curry sauce poured over chicken eurgh!
