You should always wear your leathers. Why bother having them otherwise? It would be like wanking with a cheese grator without them! Laughing

I personally can't imagine riding around in leather jeans in this weather, but I do at least wear jeans (as opposed to shorts).

I have been riding around in a T-shirt lately though. Naughty, but it's my own skin so there Razz

What is the coolest (temperature Wink ) protective kit you can wear. I saw a jacket in a shop that looked like mesh with armour in it. I presume it had some kind of abrasion resistance but I didn't look too closely.

I can't imagine touring Spain in high 30s heat in full leathers. Confused

i've been in the kevlar jeans still, which are ok when your doing 40+. Very tempted to get one of the joe rocket jackets that the major suggested, but at 250 quid i think i'll just wait until it gets cold instead.

come on rain.

I have Teknic's leathers which are 'air conditioned'. (There's loads of perferated air holes in the legs and chest areas. RRP £500 though.

I was tempted to ride home with no gloves, jacket etc. today but ended up putting my leather trousers in my bag and wearing all the other gear.

So tempting, but I've seen too many pics of what happens to you if you take the risk Confused

Nah, the Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket ( https://www.tranam.co.uk/details.asp?model=63 ) is "only" £99...But I think that AGV have made one that sells for less than £90.

'Joe Rocket' stuff I think. The Hippys have got them and seem to swear by them.

Girly thin jeans today (never wear leather trousers to work) and riding down the A40 at 70 with my jacket flapping... still fecking boiling. But I think that was mostly residual from the hot office.

I find leathers in hot weather fine as long as you're moving. It's those damn traffic lights...

Its more the temperature of the bike that makes it uncomfortable IMO

Solution would appear to be to go faster but even when sitting ~100mph at the weekend it was still damn hot Sad

Usually I religiously wear full leathers(zipped up), boots and back protector for any trip over a few miles or that includes national speed limit roads. (This is probably due to me scraping my knee quite badly a couple years ago where I still have scar tissue).

But the last couple days i've been melting so it's been at the minimum unzipped jacket and today I was riding round in a T-shirt.

After spending over an hour yesterday scrabbling up a gravelly track(don't ask), with the bike indicating 110 degrees water temperature, I believe that you've got to balance out abrasion protection with preventing heat exhaustion.
