I was at my work at the weekend and my boss sent me for a message and I took his sierra cosworth, god what a car Shocked
his work car is a merc and he has a volvo estate (both top of the range) the sierra is just a play thing for him (god its easy to hate people)
we got to talking and he has had a string of great cars, and even his first car was a cracker. I then started to think about the cars I have had Sad
so here it is, what was your first and what was your best car, mine are, my first was a mini (old and cheap) my best was a escort xr3i
(old and cheap)

The first was a Fiesta turbo van, at 18. The insurance co's had a birthday with that.

Had a few other high powered turbo cars since but (hard to believe i know) overall the best car was a standard 1.8 Mondeo estate.

First road legal car was a '76 Mini Clubman estate.

The best car so far is my current one, an '02 Seat Alhambra 1.9TDi Sport.

a '91 rover metro 1.1. My first car and still my favourite, even though I've owned five other cars since.
The "best" car out of that lot is probably the '93 rover 620 I've got now, though I'm looking to upgrade to another clapped-out diesel at some point

oh dear i thought somebody would ask this one day.

my first car was a princess 1750 hl, i learnt my self to driv ein that

that was 22 years ago i then passed my test in 1991 after many run ins and since then i am now on my 78 th car, most of my cars wre classics ie minis, mk1/mk2 escorts rs2000, every model capri, most cortinas including 2 1600e's a few bmw's a 4.2 jag a 2.4 jag, 2 opel manta's a shit load of xr3'i and few 2.2 tc rovers. most of the cars i have had the younger amongst you would not of heard off but as regards the bes ti have had hmmmmmm i would defo have another 3.0 capri or a 2.8. and i would also have another bemmer 3 series 2.0.

ye sit was a major hobby of mine restoring old cars and wasted lkoads of cash on them over the years but heh it was fun at the time.

I've had a souped up Mk1 escort 1.3. That was quick, (or I thought so at the time) sounded really good, but had the worst brakes i've ever used and you would breal out in a sweat trying to steer the thing coz it had a small steering wheel. Great fun tho coz the roads were a lot quieter then. (1983)
Since then I've had a 1985 mini metro 1.0 (crap)
a 1984 1.1 escort estate. (slow, but reliable)
a 1991 1.6 sierra saphire. (had this for about 7 years. Loved it)
a 1994 1.8td Mondeo estate. (great on fuel but an absolute twat to start. Hated it.)
a 1999 1.8glx Mondeo estate. Love it. comfy. reliable and fits anything in the back.

First car was a Talbot Sunbeam in shitty brown! £250 well spent...

Best? God knows. Had plenty of company cars, but they don't count. I went through the boy-racer stage (not chav, I might add) and had an Astra GTE 16v, Peugeot 205 GTI, Escort RS Turbo etc. I don't really bother now... as long as it's got enough power to overtake occassionally and some mod-cons, I'll spend the money on bikes Thumbs Up

It started out as an 1100xl we put the mex wings on and the wheels were off a capri laser (rs wheels are quite pricey and the laser ones are a bit wider). Engine's evloved from a 1300 gt motor and ended up with a 1640 crossflow. My dad had a 2l fiat twin cam motor in one of his when I was a kid and knew I had to have one too.

Just my current car.

Rover 214i

1.4mpi, double overhead.

Primitive K series 16v IL4.

Valves prone to bounce at high revs, scared I may snap the cams with a comedown one day at least, or send a piston through.

It is a 1.4, it must be ragged, it is amazing fun to drive this car, and I love it to bits, this is why I posted it.

No need for "your car is shit not unique blah blah"

Its unique and class to me, and I will enjoy it, no matter how shite some of you may think it, and my wheels, are. Laughing

1. D reg Ford Fiesta 1.1 - gave it away before it fell apart.

2. J reg Vauxhall Nova 1.2 - got written off just before falling apart.

3. N reg Fiat punto 1.2 - sold just before it fell apart.

4. M reg Volvo 460 1.6 - owned whilst falling apart.

5. F reg Peugeot 205 XS 1.4 - going well.

You get the idea...

A car is for Christmas, not for life. I want it to have 4 wheels, a heater and a hole in the dash to fit me CD player into.

It must be said however, that the little pug is a right laugh in the corners. I'd love a go in the 1.9 Gti or own a good one some time.

From what I can gather the old cars seem to be some of the best Confused I have only had shots of new cars (not having much money)
and they seem nice to drive but I loved my xr3i, it was cheap but was fun to drive, thanks for this I found it quite interesting Wink
